Massive earthquake affecting Turkey and Syria

I would love to be. As long as I was standing in a field with nothing to fall on me and none of my family or property was involved. Imagine standing there and seeing city blocks and stuff coming down.

Not something that holds any appeal to me I must say.

The same with a landslide. I wouldn't like to be stood on land that fancied being somewhere else

North East England. There's been a couple, one centred in Ripon in 2011 and one in Stockton-on-Tees in 2020.

I thought it was going to be somewhere exotic:lol:.

I can't remember reading about that, mind you I rarely watch the local news.

Thoughts and prayers to all those affected.

From a purely selfish perspective ..just booked a holiday for July in Turkey. Wonder how far the aftershocks have reached.

Has any SMB'er even been somewhere when an earthquake struck?

I haven't and hope I never am.

Aye, in Turkey as well. Wasn't like this one mind. I was young at the time so don't remember that much, when the tremors started a local lad panicked and jumped from the 2nd floor of his house. Broke both his legs and an arm iirc. At one point it started there was a couple of maids in the corridor who knelt down and started crying/praying rather than escaping the hotel, following the strict instructions from my mam to get out immediately if anything started happening I leapt over them and left them for dead...my parents did get them out mind.:) We spent one night sleeping on the beach away from the buildings. I remember several of families giving the rep a load of hassle as they wanted to fly home, was awful, she was in tears. We chose to move to a different location rather than go home.

There are quite a few graphics available across the news sites indicating the reach.

Pictures coming out of those affected areas are horrific. Deaths and casualties climbing too.

I was in San Francisco when the South Napa quake struck. Was in the middle of the night and shook me awake. Took me a good few mins to realise what was happening. Really odd.

Pretty sick attempt at a wind up tbf mate
Who am I supposed to be winding up like? The fact is I don’t really care about people I don’t know, it’s been pretty well documented on here over the years. So whenever I see a natural disaster (or even a man made one) I think wow that’s amazing first and foremost. I have no concern for the people involved whatsoever. I can understand people not believing me, but similarly I can’t believe some people see things like this on the news and get upset and cry.
I just asked a lad at work the same question his exact words were “don’t know them, don’t care”.

Anything like that - tornado, explosion, fire, flood, ships sinking, I find fascinating. I love those seconds from disaster and air crash investigation programmes.
I normally defend your idiosyncratic ways but that is borderline psychopathic.
It’s sociopathic if owt. But mainly Aspergers.
