Martinez

Martinez is quite obviously the wrong choice and I would be shocked if he still managed to get a job in the Premier League.

He is so unwilling to change that I can't see him ever making it as a good manager. He doesn't think conceding goals is a big deal and he doesn't think set piece training is important. The fitness record over the last two seasons was absolutely abysmal with most players knackered after an hour last season and the last two pre-seasons an absolute mess whilst most injuries were passed off as 'soft tissue injuries' despite players being out for months and stating he is a qualified physio.

Not to mention the numerous players he fell out with and his insistence to play the same team with players in the same position every week despite if failing every week.

He just doesn't get it, he has no awareness. Even in his parting statement he stated he understood fans were upset over '8 weeks of bad form' when the problem was we had been awful for two seasons.

I wouldn't even be surprised if things started off well initially but Martinez would be an awful, awful fit at Sunderland.

But, the most frustrating thing by a mile is after watching your team throw away a 2-0 lead at home by bringing on Oumar f***ing Niasse for a midfielder when you're down to 10 men and lose to f***ing West Ham, you have to listen to Danny twatface Murphy on MOTD talking about how Martinez shouldn't be sacked and he loves watching Everton play. Knobhead.

What changed from the success he had the season before?

Piggybacking off Moyes the first year. His last 2 were atrocious

Whilst they finished bottom half they reached last 16 of europa one season and reached two cup semis the next. Add to the fact he won the fa cup at Wigan whilst being relegated seems he has a very patchy record. No way is he the right fit for us but don't think he's as bad as people are making out on this thread like.

I think fitness played a big part.

Under Moyes the players were incredibly fit and a pre-season was already in place for Martinez's first season so when you add the importance that Martinez places on ball control then that was a pretty good combination. Then there's the surprise factor because teams didn't know what to expect and Baines and Coleman were particularly pivotal to that as our main attacking outlets.

Pre-Season was absolutely pathetic in his second season as only three matches were scheduled initially and then one or two were arranged once Pre-season started. The likes of Lukaku and Mirallas played 45 minutes (I don't think Rom played any, actually) because they were given time off after the World Cup yet started the season. We led 2-1 against Leciester on the opening day but conceded late on because the players were fucked. We led 2-0 against Arsenal and blew it late on for the same reason. Then we had that farcical match against Chelsea which we lost 6-3 which made the players start to question Martinez as naturally, they must have felt unprepared and seen this coming. The likes of Eto'o and Distin fell out with him and so many players were getting injured, it was only really the Europa League run keeping him from fan's unrest. He knew that and completely neglected the league which was going awfully (think we lost four matches in a row to the likes of Stoke, Hull and Newcastle) in December and then we lost 5-2 in Kyiv. He got things back on track by changing to a more solid system which gave him a third season to see what happened.

Lessons were not learned, it was pathetic from the board he stayed in the job as long as he did.

That whole post seemed eerily similar to Bruce. Substitute cushion face for Martinez and you wouldn't have raised many eyebrows.

Would be gutted, he has stolen a living for years.

Absolutely clueless.

Dunno how he got the Everton job in the first place when his pedigree was circling the drain year on year with Wigan.

And we have to suffer him over here as a pundit with his dreadful half Spanish half Landashire accent. At least he's finally given up on the cranial shoe shine and weetabix which was making him even more laughable.

He is honestly the biggest charlatan going.

I know everyone jokes about the 'Bob Martin' thing but it is true. Talking about philosophies and wearing a nice suit has worked wonders for his career.

I'd even say he did a bad job at Wigan - of course he won the FA Cup, but it shouldn't have been a case of them needing miracles every season - Bruce had them solid as a rock, Martinez didnt.

Being smug as fuck, I did call that at the time whilst Martinez was being universally lauded and Moyes (still at United) being absolutely panned.
