I'm sick to death of these threads.

I like him

No he was shite

Yeah but I still like him

But he was shite

But he's a nice fella

Aye, a nice fella who made millions out of our club by destroying the match day experience and phoning it in as a coach

Well I still like him

aye was a canny bit of banter with cannavaro. telling him and viera that he has a european cup winners medal which neither of them have. top bloke but did nothing really for safc.

It might not have worked out for SAFC and him ..... but I still thinks he's class.

Just listening to him before the match there, he's still a star turn.

Absolutely gutted it didn't work out, we got him too late.

during my supporting of the lads from 66 onwards, the season after he kept us up has to be the most dull and uninspiring footy I have had the misfortune to witness - wasnt it something like 14 attempts on goal in the first 10 games - dreadful and he never gave AJ a chance to get off to a decent start in his SAFC career.
Great on tv, but a disappointment for us - wonder what would have happened if Samba's perfectly legal goal had stood in his first game which would have put us 2-0 down ??

People were surely aware that he wasn't a training ground manager though, right?

It wasn't like he was how he was with us and us alone.
This, he's always been like that and he had been pretty successful doing that, wasn't as if he turned up at Sunderland thought 'Ah well good pay just gonna sit at home'. Sir Alex barely had any input on the training ground and I believe Clough was similar.

I've gone off him a bit during this ITV stint.

Vaguely humorous but borderline arrogant.

Still forgotten more about football than I've ever known mind. I'll certainly acknowledge that.
Pretty much this. The man obviously knows his trade but comes over like me after 8 pints. A bit sanctimonious and a wee bit aggressive. As you state though, he's forgotten more than I'll ever understand. Shame stuff didn't work out.

He's always been a complete egomaniac.

Probably been the only half-way bearable pundit on ITV though.
