I've seen some bizarre posts but claiming that this place has thought everything has been rosy since O'nil was sacked- bloody hell
Like I said, ridiculous lies and over-exaggeration just to defend MoN and his time here. Yet some posters still claim he's judged harshly.

Ridiculous

I hoped Martin would become Sunderland manager for many years. He was the promised land of managers. Once we got him, he was abyssmal - only thing in his favour was, I reckon he stood just as good a chance of keeping us up as Di Canio, who was such an appalling appointment that he instantly made MON and all managers before or after him seem level-headed and as though they knew what they were doing.

He's an absolute legend at Leicester.

Got us promoted to the Premiership.
Four successive top ten finishes. (Only Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool & Chelsea did the same in that period)
Three League Cup Finals in fours season and won two of them.
Two UEFA Cup campaigns losing to Atletico Madrid (we were robbed) and Red Star Belgrade.

In the late 1990's we were arguably the fifth best team in England if we could put our first XI out but lacked squad depth.

But he's a dinosaur in today's game.

No thanks Martin, lets not ruin the legend.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Over on leicester forum it was pointed out that his transfer business here was shit... bought plodders and overpaid for them and that we are still suffering the repercussions...

It was retorted that we buy shit regardless and has more to do with our shit scouting... MON not to blame...

Truth likely somewhere in the middle but I hope he flops like beefy in a pool...

Sounds like the excuses our fans made for him after the villa fans told us...

Never go back, so they say. Thing if its going shit the fans will cut him slack because of his history with the club. That could be quite a bad thing, or good.

What about leeds? We finished above ya twice man

Finished 13th under MON.
17th, 14th and 16th since. Was he a success here? No, but this idea that it's all been rosy since his departure couldn't be more factually incorrect.

Has anyone actually said this like? To me it looked like we were free falling towards relegation when he was sacked. Add to this our 'style of play' under him, the fact that we offered barely any attacking threat and barely crossed the half way line and the money he wasted on transfers I don't think anyone can say he wasn't deservedly sacked in all honesty

We have been just as crap since he left but at least we are still in the top league, I very much doubt this would be the case if he had stayed in charge
