Shit is about to get wild! The return of Mr part time/Mr Containment!

Need to win ? Nah fuck it. Let's just retreat against 10 men and camp out in our own half.
That sapped every bit of enthusiasm I had for MON right out of me, absolutely scandalous as they were there for the taking.

For me the turning point was the quarter final against everton when we lost 2-0. We had such a positive view of players like David Vaughn who were playing really well for a good while. In the everton game however, everyone played so poorly and I was in a pub in London watching it and I have never felt more deflated. I haven't felt that good about a team since.

tbf i think that result did have a big psychological effect .

He failed me at Sunderland
Then he fails me at Ireland

I couldn't feel anymore let down by him. Still a canny bloke like but he's shite.

Where's the evidence for this?

O Neil was rumored to be in the frame to manage Sunderland off and on for a long time, and all during that time the debate went on as to whether he really was a fan of SAFC. When he didn't come to us, the general consensus seemed to settle down that he was a fan of Hurley and thus would look out for our scores, and that was about it.

Then when he finally became our manager, suddenly history was revisited and he was deemed to be a life long fan with a black cat tattooed on his arse, etc.

AFAIK all of the above is SMB conjecture as I've yet to see a shred of evidence one way or the other. The most likely scenario is that he liked Hurley and looked out for our scores. End of. Managers bouncing around from club to club can't afford to be too sentimental, and neither should we fans be sentimental about ex players. They're all mercenaries these days. That's why I'm not impressed with the inevitable calls for ex SAFC players to become our manager. More than likely it will end in tears and their accrued goodwill for once being our player will be squandered when it turns out they are a shite manager. It might have worked for Stokoe, and could have for Clough, but those days are over. In any event the correlation between being a top player and becoming a top manager seems to be very weak, so those already getting a semi lob on for Phillips (or even Bally) to one day be our manager should get in the cold shower.

He said so himself, several times, before, during and after he was manager here. Look it up yourself.

Finished 13th under MON.
17th, 14th and 16th since. Was he a success here? No, but this idea that it's all been rosy since his departure couldn't be more factually incorrect.

We were on course to finish 16/17th or go down when he was sacked though. Not one person had sad things have been rosy since he was sacked.

It's certainly wasn't as rosy when he was here as some like to make out though.

Soooo, predrag is coming to Leicester unless he is replacing the person going to Leicester (according to Leicester fans). Can't see Preki being given the Ireland job so this smells of total shite so far...

Was gutted it didn't work out with safc however the second season the football was stale, form poor and I do believe we would have probably went down as we needed some kinda crazy injection.....we got it with Di Canio (crazy!)

Nice bloke.

Sunderland fan.

Kept us up.

Signed Adam Johnson.

Ultimately failed (just like every other manager we've had in this premier league stint)

But, the football became horrible to watch, and there were question marks on his commitment to training.

Would be a bad appointment for Leicester. He's doing alright at Ireland anyway he should stay there.

Like fuck he is.

Ok.

His affection may have waned since his sacking, like.

But as someone who has openly talked about his support previously, I'd still count that as something which should be taken into account when choosing to slag him off or not. That's my opinion.

It's all nonsense mate, he never went to support Sunderland ........ he had a crush on Charlie Hurley, end of story.

I've seen some bizarre posts but claiming that this place has thought everything has been rosy since O'nil was sacked- bloody hell
