I just think he needs the right team around him to do well. Kind of like Clough and Peter Taylor. He WAS a good manager mate. He's totally lost it and hasn't adapted to the game at all.

Contrary view, and of course you’re entitled to it, I can’t agree however and to use the popular phrase *he’s a dinosaur* , out of touch and left light years behind in the modern game.ONeill is a good manager, but he needs a details man to work alongside him. He was very good with Robertson, but his team-up with Keane was just a disaster waiting to happen.
Guys like ONeill and Moyes can come back, and the game would be better if they did as they were the promising managers of their generation, but they have to do some soul searching and not be afraid to work their way back up. Moyes can still hack it, as he proved at West Ham, but unless Newcastle go for him it’s hard to see him getting another Premier League job. ONeill looks more spent, but if he can find another Robertson I think he could easily come back too.
To an extent - he always played 3-5-2 and relied on brawn. But he was always more of a motivational manager, who left the training etc to Robertson. I think his approach can still work, and he is intelligent, so is capable of adapting. It’s a question of motivation. You don't think there's any chance he's just a busted flush?
I know for a fact that the ROI squad hated him.Plenty of the Irish players said the same. Himself and Keane need to realise football changes and you have to change with it.
I seem to remember that I made my views on the matter pretty obvious on here at the time!No you didn't tbf.
Maybe someone needs to welcome O’Neill to the modern game cos he was like a dinosaur when he was here. Turgid.
He was finished when he came man
I'd have got shot at the end of the season.
It may have been a coincidence of course, but yeah, this.
Who?!?!?
Maybe going down with ONeill and having him rebuild would have been a better option either way? It was the constant cycle of desperation moves that really screwed the club up.
Prove itYou'd have left it too late then.
Prove it
I don't need to. I'm not claiming anyone else is wrong. You prove your theory too
Yes you are those who don't agree with your theory O neill would've kept us upI don't need to. I'm not claiming anyone else is wrong.
No I'm giving an opinion that he would have kept us up. I can't prove otherwise. That lad said I was wrong. I want him to prove it. He made the statement of fact.Yes you are those who don't agree with your theory O neill would've kept us up
My theory his awful style would've relegated us

OK I'll humour you though . His points per game average over the season would have seen us safe.
