When he signed him I don't think Moyes envisaged him being anything other than a squad member, that he could "ease in" after working with him - then only as injuries and form dictated.

Unfortunately, the situation with Kaboul meant any thoughts like that had to be thrown out of the window.
What was the situation that a "don't be f***ing stupid, get your kit on and shut up" wouldn't have fixed?

I don't mind the concerts being held at the stadium. The stadium should be for everyone in Sunderland and out with to enjoy, not just football fans. Concerts bring money into the city and put the city on the map, albeit for one night only.
I just don't see how it has any negative impact on the playing side. Other possibly than the argument about having our first game away from home.

Pair of idiots

Build for what?

The championship?

He's naive as fuck

He's in for a shock like, when the crowd turns

I don't think either of them are naive.

They are well aware that they've made a right mess of things a realise the tipping point wuth fans is rightfully close at hand.

That said, a late PR campaign to try and justify the mess and grovel for more time is nothing more than window dressing.

They know we all need to see progress in the next 2-3 games and they also know that's a massive ask given the mess they've made.

It is what it is. Disappointing as fuk.

Aye maybe like

It's just I work in PR and I know it means fuck all

Fair play to them for doing it but it's totally irrelevant. Bit like my job.

Just win a game

1 game

Martin Bain loves the word "fundamentally". Also saw him in that hotel over the road from Stoke station on Saturday.

A lad from works daughter in law works for the club and was saying that since Bain has come in that there is major cost cutting going on, lay offs etc and there are loads of people fearful for their jobs.

She's right lad who works for me had a promise of a job last year under the old setup once Byrne went and Bain came in pre summer it all changed and he got told to sod off. Lot of it going on behind the scenes.

Let's be fair to Piennar, he's looked decent at times, certainly not first 11 quality but a good squad player, plenty of experience and knows Moyes well, it was a decent signing on those grounds, so not one to moan about. Ndong looks good, but once again, partly due to injuries and partly due to poor recruitment, we don't have a midfield to support him. M'Vila managed to show his class all season last year when we were lacking in numbers and quality, Ndong isn't as good as M'Vila, but he's capable and youthful, alongside Catts and Kirch, Ndong will look ok given time to settle, right now he's being asked to do too much with too little support. The rest of our summer recruitment is the issue mind. McNair could be ok, versatile and young and a current international, bit too expensive in my view, but then again EVERY signing has been expensive this summer. Januzaj is the poorest signing we have made for years, he's up there with Graham for me, totally the wrong player at totally the wrong time.

Had we managed to keep the squad fit and settled we'd be doing ok, we'd probably have 5-6 points, not fantastic but decent enough. Injuries and under financing the recruitment has been the biggest issues for me. You cannot buy 10 players, 3-4 of whom will cost 8 figures a piece, AND bring in 5 squad players for just £27M, ESPECIALLY not this summer when prices went through the roof thanks to the new TV deal. The fact the board expected we could just spend the same amount we have done(mostly) for the past few seasons shows just how incompetent they have been, Bain wouldn't have had the ability to change the budget this summer, not by too much anyway.

Impossible for Moyes to not go for numbers. Imagine we signed the 3-5 'quality players' but still had the same level of injuries, we'd literally have between 9 and 11 fit first 11 players. Granted we aren't much better off currently, but at least we can put a bench out.

He has a good touch and can make a pass that is above what most of the team can do, but other than that, he has been crap.

Goal at spurs was directly down to him not closing down Walker - looked shattered after 60 mins

Moyes doesnt have a sniff compared to BSA in training and preparation

I'd have hoped it would be a case of taking the best of what Allardyce did and adding your own stuff in bit by bit. Has he ditched all of it?

Haven't had a chance to read the thread, but just some thoughts on the Bain interview I watched last night...

He came across well to be honest. And whilst people might not like what he had to say, I don't think Bain has been brought to the club to please people. He's here to be ruthless, balance the books, sort the club structure and staffing out and to get us operating like a proper business. If he achieves all of that and we get into good shape on the pitch, I'll be happy.

His comments on David Moyes were the most interesting I felt. If anyone is hoping that Moyes will be sacked any time soon then you might end up disappointed. They just aren't sacking someone three months into a four year deal.

The wheel was finally perfected, spokes were added for strength, craftsmen perfected techniques to shape wood into curves so excellent the bumps in the road were hardly noticed.

Then dave and martin turned up and decided the future was a f***ing square.

Let me get this straight ...... you're talking about Sunderland?

I may be wrong because I was distracted by the noise of someone laughing hysterically ....... then I realised it was me

Sorry i dont believe we spend 8m on squad players ...never have done intentionally

I agree with some of your points mate however, it will all change if we get beat of WHU, Arsenal and more importantly, Hull at home. When the crowd completely turns it will be come untenable.

Obviously, I do hope this doesn't happen. Just have a feeling it will. Not confident of picking up any wins at the moment.

Bain doesn't seem like the type of bloke that gives a fuck what the fans think.

That is the fundamental (to use Bain's favourite word) problem with any long term vision/ plan. If you don't get the odd decent result along the way to give the supporters even a glimmer of hope, you're plan is doomed.

For all the bluster about building something, it's a long term thing etc etc. if we continue to lose games the crowd will turn on Moyes.

Apart from very brief glimpses of hope under sequential managers we've had to contend with very poor football for years now. Moyes hasn't even won a league game yet let alone put a run together, he and Bains can plead for patience but they'll both know its a result business - which will only end one way if results don't improve.

The things I took from it are...
1) Moyes is here for the long term(right decision IMO).
2) Although he didn't actually say it, I think we are going to knock the concerts and all that shite on the head. Mentioned a couple of times about focusing all the commercial stuff towards things that related to the football side of the business and cutting other things out.
3) Sounds like him and Moyes might be doing talk-ins and actually start interacting with the fans. A good move IMO.
4) The policy now is to sign young players and then sell them on for a profit.
What, make a success of the AOL?
