Martin Bain Interview on Safc.com

That is the fundamental (to use Bain's favourite word) problem with any long term vision/ plan. If you don't get the odd decent result along the way to give the supporters even a glimmer of hope, you're plan is doomed.

For all the bluster about building something, it's a long term thing etc etc. if we continue to lose games the crowd will turn on Moyes.

Apart from very brief glimpses of hope under sequential managers we've had to contend with very poor football for years now. Moyes hasn't even won a league game yet let alone put a run together, he and Bains can plead for patience but they'll both know its a result business - which will only end one way if results don't improve.

Absolutely - Its not building if we are going backwards and get relegated to the championship. Remember, we all took the piss out of the mags for saying the same about Rafa and their project.

Spot on. Stop overextending itself with speculative commercial ventures to try to cover an increasing wage bill for players with little to no sell on value.

Instead, focus on investment into the footballing side of the club, bring the wage bill down by buying/developing young players who we can then sell on for a profit and create a revenue stream.

That's our trouble we think outside the opposition box and never think inside our own box. Thought he contradicted himself a fair bit
Aye I did. It was refreshing that he's doing the interview but it felt it little bit like a politicians spin.

Phase one has been a roaring success.

More of the same please.

Oh, hang on...

Yes 8 games is definitely enough time to judge.

Every club in England who doesn't have the revenue streams of Manchester Utd or the wealthy benefactors of Chelsea and Manchester City is a selling club.
A quarter of a season played and no discernible benefit from £28m paid.

How much longer should we wait? Until the big R is next to our name?

Keep kidding yourself they were good purchases, meanwhile in the real world...

I never said they were good purchases I said it was too early to judge. And we will have to wait even longer than that.

Should we wait until January when Borini is back and we're already down?

The only way Moyes could put himself in this position would be to go into November with zero wins.

1/3 of the season will be gone and it's unbelievable we're in this spot.

I wish we won't have to sack another manager... again It's a hard thing to do and swallow down one more time.

I don't know what Ellis will do.

Buyout the remaining 4 years for Moyes is not likely...

Relegation and administration is likely much worse.

When it rains it pours.

This is absolutely fine and I totally agree IF the owner has the resolve to continue it come what may, the model you describe should be run parallel to a team that is not in a constant downward spiral.

We will be relegated this season if what we see now is as good as it gets.

So are you suggesting that papy and ndong are not members of his best 11?
Are you suggesting that even if mvila were 13m you wouldnt have had him over ndong or mcnair.
Manqillo is part of his best 11 or is it a fit billy jones!
The players that are unfit are players he didnt buy.
Fair enough you believe he needs more of a chance.
Read my posts over the past few years and the last manager I had a gripe with was MoN. Moyes to me is looking exactly the same.
He looks lost. He sounds lost. To me he's lost
You read my post right? I said pay every penny the Ruskies wanted. M'Vila is an easy £12M-20M player in this day and age and was by far and away our best midfielder last season, he was better than Kirchhoff was.
Papy and Manquillo are debatable as best 11 for me, Manquillo is younger than Jones and that's all that goes clearly in his favour, their similar level players currently. Papy on the other hand has been woeful mostly and has youth and pace over JOS, personally JOS is the better of the two.
Personally I'd swap Moyes for BSA in a heartbeat. But that's not gonna happen with Ellis in charge, Moyes hasn't exactly had a fully settled side, his players he bought or players that were already here. I don't see what point mentioning the players that are injured aren't ones he bought, that's largely immaterial.

He has a good touch and can make a pass that is above what most of the team can do, but other than that, he has been crap.

Goal at spurs was directly down to him not closing down Walker - looked shattered after 60 mins
Exactly, he's done ok, but shouldn't be relied upon to be a key player. Him having to play against Walker is a big ask, that Spurs side are very good and very mobile and pacy. Him being shattered is just evidence of his age.

You been under a rock for 10 years.
He has speculated 250m plus over the past 10 years.
This compares very very favourably with majority of teams outside top 6 in same period.
His problem has been crap managers, but nevertheless managers we all wanted.
Who can forget the flowers to da's wife? Cringeworthy.
MoN the messiah.
2 win de canio ...must be given a chance.
LC final gus....must be given a chance.
20 20 hindsight is in plague proportions on here. He gave us what we wanted.
No good...sack the manager.
Or... we'll get nowhere if we keep sacking managers
Bairns on here want it both ways .
I believe moyes should go..he has the stench of MoN mk 2. I'd be gutted if we kept him and went down.
Bain...he's seen it all before at rangers. This worries me by the way.
He's in charge of a club that takes its supportes for granted..... again.

Meanwhile the clock ticked.
The clock was not ticking for moyes.
He bought crap and he clearly has gone backwards in terms of organising the team.
Totally false, disingenuous comparison on your part tbf

I disagree that he has appointed managers that we all wanted. Okay O'Neill was a very popular choice. Di Canio was far from popular and we all knew it would end in tears although I dare say he wasn't helped by Short's mystifying decision to hand over control of transfers to an Italian agent.

Poyet wasn't a very popular choice either. His stock was boosted by the League Cup final and the great escape but yet again he was hamstrung by the people above failing to bring in the right quality of player. Our team heading into 2014/15 was a f***ing disgrace.

Advocaat was an unknown quantity when he came in. I think a lot of people had reservations about him coming back because quite clearly his heart wasn't in it.

Big Sam and Moyes were popular choices. So Short has probably got a 50% success rate when it comes to how supporters feel about the managers he's appointed.

We've had six managers in 4 and a half years ffs. Absolutely mental. Short needs to get to fuck.

The things I took from it are...
1) Moyes is here for the long term(right decision IMO).
2) Although he didn't actually say it, I think we are going to knock the concerts and all that shite on the head. Mentioned a couple of times about focusing all the commercial stuff towards things that related to the football side of the business and cutting other things out.
3) Sounds like him and Moyes might be doing talk-ins and actually start interacting with the fans. A good move IMO.
4) The policy now is to sign young players and then sell them on for a profit.

Fkn shocking , so we are trying to build up a decent side, once we do we are preparing to sell the best ones ?????
