Been to the members Christmas lunch today. And very nice it was too.

Marcus North said a few words. Says he is optimistic for the new season (well he was hardly going to say he expects us to be crap ). His best point (and I paraphrase) was that he is looking forward to a positive approach from the new coach and drew a comparison with England- they have the same team as they had 6 months ago, but different attitude, and look what’s happened.

In fairness to North, he only spoke for a few minutes, mainly to think the members for their continuing support and to wish everyone a Happy Christmas. It wasn’t a ‘state of the nation address’. I expect we will get more details about squad improvements etc at the members forum planned for next month.

Durham's season was dropping apart in front of our eyes and he was away working for a franchise literally knocking nails into the coffin of the county championship.
