My problem with this business model is that they are turning players into a commodity.
And even worse, they are destroying the careers of these same players. The players never get the chance to settle somewhere, with their club always looking for a profit rather than working on improving their player and their team. Why let a competitor buy a decent player with potential when you can buy him instead and send him out on loan to other leagues for years?

If any player sums up the sheer stupidity of the loan system and the stockpiling of players by certain clubs in this case Chelsea it is him.

Just checking the squad lists for the games tonight and he is in the PSV squad on loan still from Chelsea. He has been on loan at various clubs for the past six years and this year signed a new one year deal with Chelsea despite only making four appearances for the first-team in seven years.

The system definitely needs looking at and regulated more.
It’s simply savvy business on Chelsea’s part.

I recall when they initially signed Thibaut Courtois they loaned him out for several seasons and had made more than the substantial fee which they’d paid for him - plus a few years of another top club bringing him up to elite level - before he ever even touched a ball for them.

It’s how Chelsea make up money. Sign a player for £10m on a 6 year deal and loan him out for a £3m loan fee every season and the club also pay his wages.

The Udinese Model, but without Moberg-Karlsson, Cabral and the like

Chelsea signed Zouma for £12m. They’ve since loaned him to Stoke for £14m for one season and Everton for £12m for one season.

He was linked with us back in our PL days

To be fair he was set to sign for PSV permanently a few years ago but suffered a serious injury.
