Well.. 1st time round he was quality, then agreed to sign permanently but vanished and a day later had signed for Valencia. Came back to us on loan again when that didn't work out and was overweight, shit and not successful at all.

Seems to have a bad attitude but undoubted quality.

Think it would be an odd signing considering PDC's wish to have motivated fit players with a good attitude as Manny aint any of these.

Bit of a Rosyten Drenthe IMO

Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

after watching that youtube clip hes now my favourite player !

im sorry but just cant see someone that talented coming to us, id splurt for a month if he did though !

Yeah I imagine he'll be partnering Cabral, if Fernandes pushes forward Cabral drops back to cover, similar to playing the diamond formation

How does Sess fit into that?

I can't see us playing two attacking full backs, two wingers, an attacking midfielder and Sess. And with only Cabral, who doesn't seem to be the most positionally disciplined player, holding back. It'd be daft.

Fernandes is a very different player from what I thought we'd go for in a midfielder and from all the others we've been linked to so I wonder if he is being lined up as more of a Sess replacement, it would be more suited to his game.

This, the whole thing just doesn't really seem to fit with our new regime in my opinion. Still, would love to sign him.

Think of the team we have at the minute.

Take out the sum total of Larssons contribution in central midfield.

Add in Fernandes.

There's your answer.

Whilst Di Canio has attacking full backs, both the full backs and wingers assist in the overall defensive structure - thats why we need players at peak physical fitness. Hence the employment of the workhorse that is Giaccherini.

Similar to Sess was my opinion also when I saw the Youtube clips. If PDC can 'fit' the two of them in our side then we will be some team to watch. No doubt though he has a great set of keys

or alternate, PDC said he likes to change his team to suit the oppisiton, sometimes

Cabral
Johnson - Fernandes - Giacherini
Altidore Fletcher

sometimes

Cabral Ba
Johnson - Sess- Giacherini
Fletcher

He is a quality player who would improve our options

We won't have that problem of him being unfit. PDC will make him fit and if his poor attitude is to be believed then we won't be signing him anyway.

Watch the besiktas video and for some moves he is up there with only a striker or two ahead of him suggesting he is more like sess but from about 1.25 in you see him playing balls from a much deeper role with plenty of players ahead of him. Again winning the ball at 2.07 and again the clip from him at everton, looks like against arsenal playing deep winning the ball showing he can do that job aswell but looks a lot better going forward.

About time we had a forward thinking cm

Then my thoughts are exactly the same.

What is this madness??

I think I'd be happy with Fernandes. Mightn't be as proven at this level as Huddlestone, but is a lot more mobile and he can both run at defenders, and pass the ball. Seems strong on the ball too, and he can take a free-kick.

As for his attitude, I don't know about that, but hopefully it works out. And as for injury proneness, again, he won't be worse than Catts or Huddlestone.

I rekon it would be more....

Cabral - Fernandes

Johnson - Sessegnon - Giaccherini

Fletcher/Altidore/Sow???

Mannone

Peruzzi Brown O'Shea Cissokho

Fernandes Cabral
Johnson Sess Giacch

Altidore

don't know much about Fernandes but assuming he can play "deep lying playmaker" role? For too long, our centre midfield has been too static with zero creativity going forward which has resulted in our 2 centre midfielders being camped directly in front of centre halves making it difficult to push forward imo.

If Fernandes can't play that role then I suspect Sess could be away?

Manuel Fernandes

If he does leave, the league will be a poorer place for it
The perennial underachiever, Fernandes is an obvious choice for this list – not only because he is a high-profile foreigner but also because he plays for the country’s third biggest side in Beşiktaş. During spells in England, Spain, and his native Portugal the midfielder has become tarnished with the ‘difficult’ brush, seeing small spells at clubs blighted and eventually ended by reports of ill-discipline and a poor work ethic. Most recently in Turkey, the midfielder was allegedly enjoying the nightlife a little too much while his side were pushing for a Champions’ League place. However, ‘Manny’’s talents on the field are indisputable. The player’s passing and vision allow him to stay two steps ahead of most other players on the field. His position in the Beşiktaş side often sees him conduct the game from the centre, much like Andrea Pirlo has done for years, and this in turn allows him to dictate the pace of attacks during the game. In particular, this year has seen him link up brilliantly with the club’s other midfielders – with Necip Uysal winning the ball and Oğuzhan Özyakup finding players with his fluid short-range passing. Fernandes has also combined brilliantly with Olcay Şahan, the German-born Turkey international who has terrorised teams cutting in from the left flank with devastating effect – as Fenerbahçe found out in the final minute of the derby. It remains to be seen whether Fernandes will stay on this summer; the player has expressed his wish to see out his contract, but with the club needing to finance a new stadium and at the same time looking to bring through young Turkish talent his days could be numbered. If he does leave, the league will be a poorer place for it.

There you go.
