The Champions' League ban is relevant to incoming players but the league earnings are 6 to 7 million per place. Unless they're relegated through that, they sell Leroy Sane or Riyadh Mahrez and wipe the loss out.

City's press release and previous statements seems to challenge the notion that they breached FFP at all, and not the validity of FFP as a concept. It makes sense as a strategy. MCFC signed the Participation Agreements and paid the original fine a few years back.

With this prejudicial process now over, the Club will pursue an impartial judgment as quickly as possible and will therefore, in the first instance, commence proceedings with the Court of Arbitration for Sport at the earliest opportunity..."

It's possible - but unlikely - they go nuclear, but there's too much out on record showing their theoretical compliance with the principles.
