Man City banned from Champions League

I wouldn't fancy their chances of appealing against a competition rule, after being thrown out of the competition for breaking that particular rule.

Agreed. It would require an 'outsider'.

But yeah, I've just looked on Westlaw (a legal database thingy) and the Commission OKed the FFP regime 4 or 5 back. Slipped me by.

Doesn't look like it's going anywhere soon.

Get yerself on blue moon for a proper chuckle.

Talk about being up your own arse! “UEFA don’t realise who they’re messing with”

“they’re about to unleash hell on themselves” “they’ll end up reinstating us, apologising and paying us compo”

Deluded, self aggrandising, lottery winning tramps 😅

Relevant to potential incoming players and league earnings based on finishing place

The Champions' League ban is relevant to incoming players but the league earnings are 6 to 7 million per place. Unless they're relegated through that, they sell Leroy Sane or Riyadh Mahrez and wipe the loss out.

City's press release and previous statements seems to challenge the notion that they breached FFP at all, and not the validity of FFP as a concept. It makes sense as a strategy. MCFC signed the Participation Agreements and paid the original fine a few years back.

"...Simply put, this is a case initiated by UEFA, prosecuted by UEFA and judged by UEFA. With this prejudicial process now over, the Club will pursue an impartial judgment as quickly as possible and will therefore, in the first instance, commence proceedings with the Court of Arbitration for Sport at the earliest opportunity..."

It's possible - but unlikely - they go nuclear, but there's too much out on record showing their theoretical compliance with the principles.

Now if a new cashed up outsider, possibly from Uzbekistan, were to step forward...

They were banned for the last summer window.

Citys ban would be good for Everton but as soon as we qualify for Europe we'll likely be banned ourselves once Usmanov starts sponsering the stadiums bog rolls

Liam's coming for ya....

Mebbes if "The Best Manager In The World" could manage to buy a first team defender for under £50 million or manage to not let a potentially world class teenager fuck off to Germany for peanuts, they wouldn't be in this position.

“A day before that, the former chair of the IC, Jean-Luc Dehaene, a distinguished former prime minister of Belgium and senior European Union politician, died aged 73, survived by his wife of 49 years and their four children. Spiegel quoted Cliff’s reaction to this news in an internal email, referring to the membership of the IC: “1 down, 6 to go.”

Cliff is/was Man City’s in house lawyer...classy
