Making a Murderer (Netflix)

Do you realise how much cleaning would have to be done for there to be no blood at the scene? More likely that Avery knocked the whole building down and rebuilt it, than that he cleaned it that well.

Maybe there wasn't that much blood in the first place? Some aspects of Dassey's statement have to be bullshit like, he's not the brightest for a start and he was clearly under pressure to tell a horror story. Doesn't mean that the basics aren't true though (i.e. she was raped, killed and burned).

i honestly can't believe that any sane person could watch the programme, and interrogations specifically, and believe that he had anything to do with it.

I've come full circle on this and I'm now convinced that Avery was guilty and Dassey did play some part in it. The bones found on his property are the key for me - I don't care how much the police hated Avery or how much money was at stake, there's no way they'd move the bones of a murder victim like that.

Dassey admitted in a phone call to his mam that he did "some of it" (the rape and murder), plus his jeans were covered in bleach when he returned home the evening of the crime.

The bones were found in three locations. Why would avery just move some of them about?

Are you insane? Dassey was told what to say and had too low of an IQ to know what he was confessing to, the poor lads spending 50 years of his life in prison

not someone, i believe, with an IQ as low as his.

theres no other evidence to suggest he is 'mentally disturbed' either, just not very bright. there's a massive difference

It's unlikely but it's not impossible that he killed her and called his girlfriend after.

I wasn't specifically suggesting that he is mentally disturbed, just that there doesn't always need to be a logical motif for these types of crimes. Apparently his ex girlfriend has since come out and said he was aggressive and used to threaten and assault her.

I'm inclined to agree with you by the way. Just playing devil's advocate.

He was put under pressure to tell a horror story, no doubt about it, and some of what he said will have been bullshit as a consequence. Doesn't mean there's no truth in his story at all though. For example, he came up with the detail of her being shackled to the bed - turns out that restraints, handcuffs and leg irons were found at Avery's residence.

He confessed, under no duress, to his mam that he did "some of it". That was telling to me. His jeans were also covered in bleach when he returned from the bonfire that night.

Also, the prosecution was able to prove that the bullet found in the garage (which had Teresa's DNA on it) was fired from the rifle that was kept in Steven Avery's property. That was glossed over in the documentary. Add in the fact that her bones and car (which had his sweat DNA on it - also not covered in the doc) were found on his property, plus he was the last person to see her...

you honestly reckon that the whole 'shackled to the bed, raped, stabbed, murdered' story had any truth to it? i think whatever they did to the poor youngun, they have ever so slightly done to you too.

he made a guess, as he thought if he told them what they wanted to hear, then he could get back to school that afternoon. he said a hell of a lot of things hoping that it was the right thing. not rocket science to realise that some of it was going to 'match' with whatever they had already made up about Avery. Dassey even quoted the book that he had read which actually describes the exact scene. and i'm sure he has seen plenty of movies with similar types of scenarios

when he told his mam, he was taking the chance to tell her what the police were threatening on telling her the very next day, it was his last chance to tell her something before the coppers did. he only said 'it' - he didnt even know what 'it' was. his storey is the most harrowing of the whole thing, used as a pawn by the establishment and then hoyed in jail for 40 years for the trouble.

Like I said in either this thread, or the other one - I dinnar why there was two threads - they spent 6 episodes telling us that Steven and Brendan raped her and killed her in the bedroom, then all of a sudden that f***ing arsehole Ken Kratz in episode 8 reckons, "Theresa Hallbach was not murdered in the bedroom. She was murdered in the garage.".
How the fuck does any of that add up like?

Wasn't she shot in the head? There'd be an unreal amount of blood, and that garage was absolutely packed full of stuff, I cannot possibly see how they could've cleaned it that well.

Genuinely don't think you have watched the same documentary as everyone else.

Has there been any developments in this case? Everybody was talking about it a few months ago but all seems to have gone quiet

Wasn't his new lawyer on twitter a while back boasting of undeniable evidence he was innocent?
