Making a Murderer (Netflix)

Or similar to his 1st misconviction its a setup???!!! The personnel at heart of finding the key and the car looked like underhand clowns when avery was pursuing the lawsuit after his misconviction. How he was declared guilty (all jurors eventually agreed!!) is nothing short of impossible. He could be guilty but based on the main evidence and people involved anyone (jurors) must have had doubts.

He has to have a second trial like, then let the jury decide.

Interesting interview with his ex girlfriend. Amongst other things, sheds possible light on the source of the blood in the trailer:

“He’d beat me all the time, punch me, throw me against the wall. I tried to leave and he smashed the windshield out of my car so I couldn’t leave him,” she said, saying that she believes the extended Avery family noticed her domestic injuries but ignored them.

Stachowski says she suffered repeated physical assaults at Avery’s hands, including one incident in which he choked her until she lost consciousness only to wake up as he was dragging her to his car. (Calumet County prosecutor Ken Kratz successfully argued in Avery’s 2007 trial that he had transported Halbach’s body in the back of her RAV4.) Stachowski said the police arrived and intervened shortly thereafter. Authorities, however, reported no physical evidence to support Stachowski’s claims.

After authorities zeroed in on Avery as a suspect in the Halbach murder, they combed the Avery property for evidence. While no trace of Halbach inside Avery’s home was ever found, “they did find blood,” Stachowski said. “But it was my blood in the trailer. How they didn’t find any of hers, I don’t know.”

Avery, she also said, was extremely jealous and spied on her when she was with friends, coworkers, and her family. The abuse was so bad, she claims—including Avery slapping, choking, and hitting her, leaving black eyes and fat lips—that she intentionally poisoned herself in an attempt to get outside help.

“I ate two boxes of rat poison just so I could go to the hospital and get away from him, and ask them to get the police to help me,” she said.

I'm sure Avery's no angel. Having watched it, I've no idea whether or not he committed the murder. I'm also sure his ex girlfriend isn't a model of reliability either.

The problem I have with new theories on this is that anything that fits with the evidence we have seen on tv is immediately deemed nailed on fact rather than merely possible.

The original investigation and trial may have made it completely impossible for a proper investigation and trial to ever really happen. That being said there should be a retrial.

No. I'm of the opinion it was this 'german' that someone was talking about on Reddit. It fit the narrative much better, and I'm of the opinion the murder was committed by someone that the Manitowoc sheriffs hadn't even considered. I think in a community like that it would be difficult for the murder to have been committed by a local who then went on to continue living and operating in that community. Remember the perpetrator of the original crime that Avery spent 18 years in prison for was a drifter who left the area after he committed the crime.

But, to be honest, I wish people would stop coming up with their own theories, based on nothing but their viewing of the documentary. I've read a lot of things about the case in the last month and there are a few more details that aren't mentioned in the documentary to take into account.

Those reddit posts were certainly compelling. I pasted them on here after they were pulled but I still had the thread open.

i just cant help feel that he must have done something, maybe not what he is locked up for but this bloke has done something that has made them that determined to lock him up. also, nobody seems to get murdered whilst he is in jail tbf

I suspect they are a family of wrong-uns. Stolen goods etc etc.

That said, it appears the police framed Steven to just get him off the streets

Why do you think that? Nothing in the programme to suggest it. Parents seem like nice people who's lives have been destroyed

There was a few comments online about the family, plus I think on episode 2 one of the search teams on the compound made comments about stolen goods.

I reckon you're right there, but the public reaction is outrage due to the apparent framing of him. I certainly don't think he's a good person, it's just an interesting case. Not sure whether to have strong opinions on it either way. It's possible he did kill her, but the polices' insistence on proving him guilty seems to be the whole dodgy spectacle.

He tried to sue the County for 30 odd million dollazzzz.

Thought that was quite clear?

The programme is very clearly biased in their favour, though.

Mate he was suing them for $35million, is that enough of a reason?

From what I have read outside of the show, the parents seem canny but the sons and cousins have been in a lot of trouble.

Canny interesting press release from cold case investigator linking a serial murderer edward Edwards to the murder of holbuck. Also suggests he may have been in court trial audience which is something he was notorious for during previous high profile trials where he was the murderer. Aint got link but was on facebook earlier. Its a 13 minute sound clip of this fella being interviewed. He says its identical to past murders that edwards done

I finished episode 8 last night where the verdict had came in, is there much point to me continuing with the last two episodes?

It has really got to me that Dassey was done for it. Just watched the trial and verdict. To give a special needs child 41 years after being tricked into saying things by two kernt investigators and without one single bit of scientific evidence is a travesty.

Avery weirds me out. Can't decide on him.
