Making a Murderer (Netflix)

I'm still interested in what happened if one of the brothers did it.

There was still no DNA found anywhere on the compound.

So did Steven say good bye to her then one of this brothers did what? Followed off site and managed to get her to pull over then killed her. Then burnt her. Then the police found the car and bullet and bones and moved it all back to the Avery compound. You'll understand that sounds far fetched.

I've heard people say the brother but no one has put forward a how it happened scenario.

It was the German. She left Averys yard and went about five mile down the road to a filling station which was across the road from a place the German was at. He did her in and disposed of the body on a fire and fed the bones to the dogs which is why there was no flesh left on them and they weren't a whole skeleton. The Germans wife was suspicious of him and reported it to the Sheriffs department (She was new to the area and didn't know the history of the case) They investigated and found the car, the date of her calling them ties in with Coltard (sp) calling in the license plate. They then realised they had the perfect chance to frame him and started the set up moving the car and the bones which a couple of days later were "discovered" on Averys property. For a few months afterwards the Germans wifes dogs kept coming in with bones which she couldn't identify as an animal but she couldn't ascertain where the dogs were finding them. She reported this to the poilice a few months afterwards but nothing was done about it and she also again reported him but nothing was followed up.
This was all on a reddit blog just before Christmas and the Germans wife was providing answers in real time but then a day or two later everything was removed from the page (I think CatRyan might have copied and pasted a few bits on here earlier in the thread) It ties so much stuff up and is the most plausible explanation of the whole scenario. The German left the area shortly after the lass went missing and is now living in Thailand.

You need to go back to pages 5 & 6 to see a lot more on this

The bit about the barn where it's suspected the Germnan killed her burning down shoretly after this theory being posted on a blog is particularly curious...

The more I think about this the more I wonder whether the two lawyers (Strang and Buting) mis-judged the (geographical) area that they were operating in and therefore the jury too. I don't suppose there's much demand for a couple of city slickers to come and represent the underclass in backwater America, so presumably this would have been their first time dealing with a community where cattle rustling is about as serious as it gets and everyone knows and (more importantly) trusts the police.

It's one thing trying to convince a jury that an inner city group of cops they've never met planted evidence, but another entirely trying to convince a jury of people who've probably had their cars towed through the snow by some of the accused cops personally of the same.

They needed to get the trial moved to somewhere else to stand any kind of chance with that defence. While Strang and Buting were obviously better lawyers than anything that poor bastard Dassey ended up with, they probably weren't of the calibre required to get that sort of request granted. Add in the media coverage which declared them both guilty from day one and they were pretty much fucked before the trial even began.

I don't think it's clear either, but I also don't think his guilt or innocence is the crux of the programme, it's about the lengths the legal system will go to get the man they think is guilty.
Whether he did it or not, it's clear that they intended to get their man, no matter what. That doesn't just include the prosecution or the police, it appears be include the judges who presided over the cases and the appeals.
As was mentioned earlier in the series, Avery had a 34 million dollar law suit against the police department pending, and the insurance underwriters had stated they would not cover it. They went after him by any means.[/QUOTE]

Nailed.

Whilst I agree they should have had an out of town jury for sure, Its reported then the vast majority of them initially voted not guilty and got shouted down by the Police Mans Father and Clerk's Husband.

Exactly, so an unbiased jury would probably have been unanimous not guilty

I guess my point would have been there could be a Policeman's Father and Clerk's Husband in the next county and it was the fact that they had 2 very difficult people on the Jury as opposed to the Lawyer's miscalculation.

Nailed through it today.

Utterly frustrating and the amount of evidence which wasn't considered as opposed to the wooly evidence that was is absolutely mind blowing. The bloke was toast given the DA's proclamations before the thing even kicked off.

At least somebody got their comeuppance which was pleasing as he more than anyone had me wanting to put my foot through the television.

If you want to read further there is a Facebook page called 'Justice for Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey', which, while full of thick yanks spouting bollocks, does provide some good links to articles about the case. There's a number of articles relating to prosecution evidence that was not featured in the documentary (which probably won't make you change your opinion of Avery's innocence/guilt), and a lot of updates as to Kratz et al.

They were very good lawyers like, used with his compensation money from the first aquitall. You rarely ever get trials move in America like, its not do with wealth

I wouldn't call Strang a city slicker, he still works in the area to do this day

They couldn't have done anymore, not sure what you were getting at, he was gulity before the trial started, because the police and prosecution told the public he was, I don't think anything could have changed that personally.

I have seen some of that so call "evidence", there is no smoking gun that hasn't been mentioned like.

Stuff about Sherry Culhane is ridiculous, so the DNA expert also testified in the 1985 trial saying Avery's hair was on the victim, when it wasn't.

How can they be allowed to use the same experts who fucked up the first case and left a man in jail for 18 years, its just ridiculous, nobody at all should have been allowed to investigate, not the detectives, the experts, the sheriff, nobody. Its a clear conflict of interest, its absolutely f***ing ridiculous to be honest.

ah OK sorry misunderstood, no I am not convinced a brother did it like, just read a few reports about the history of some of them, who lived in the same compound, and think it is a reasonable scenario.

Just there was absolutely no evidence that Steven did it, and I think if he did do it, then they wouldn't have had to plant stuff if that makes sense. He isn't clever enough to pull off a crime like that.
The brothers certainly warranted more investigation than the programme suggests they had.

Is there anything to corroborate this story at all? Police reports etc? Or even the existence of the German?

Sounds interesting. Or nutty

There's some budding Columbo's post on that page mind

I just watched the West Memphis 3 (Netflix), I didn't realise it was the conclusion of Paradise Lost and Paradise Lost 2 which were on my to watch list, so I recommend Paradise Lost FIRST then the other two :)
