Making a Murderer (Netflix)

it is exactly that sort of supposition that put Avery in the frame though right?

not really it's just my take on him. I still feel he knows more than he let on- added to the fact he potentially hacked his sisters phone after she went missing and again potentially deleted messages (as someone deleted them as proved) I think he and the ex boyfriend should have been questioned further
the whole thing was a joke although no laughing matter to those concerned.
I can also understand the jury ''fear'' as well as im guessing this is not a massive community where lots of them are related/know a lot of people within it

They probably didn't put any focus on the brother or ex boyfriend because they wanted to make Avery (& Brendan) look as guilty as possible.

wasn't that the ex boyfriend that hacked the 'phone?

I though it was both of them-- could be wrong though
there were certainly messages deleted as it went from voicemail full to having space for voicemail as proven by the cell phone company

Alarm bells were ringing when he said he'd hacked the phone and she had been suffering from some stalking. Then the boyfriend led the search but had no expertise. With all the shocks that came later I forgot about him. That said, if Steven began the fire I can't think how Theresa's bones ended up there if Steven didn't put then there.

I'm far more convinced of Brendan's innocence than Steven's.

Brendan was totally innocent imo- obviously had a few problems and was very easily led due to that. I think he was just seeking attention/feel wanted etc - the fact he thought he could go back to school in the afternoon after the statement he gave was very genuine I thought

of course he was totally innocent. i can't believe anyone could possibly think any different. them two detectives should go to jail for what they did to him in the first interview. they knew, even as 'prosecutors', that the lad was innocent. yet they blackmailed him into saying something that would put him in jail for 30 years. horrible scum of the human race. them two, Lenk, Coburn, the main prosecuting attorney, and the the original two defence attorneys. i think everyone else who testified against him genuinely believed he was guilty and warped their memories and opinions to suit - i can kind of understand that.

two worrying questions remain for me. one, are any of us truly 'free' ? if you knew something, or saw something, or happened across something, that could incriminate a person of power, then your pretty much fucked, and could potentially be killed or spend the rest of your life in jail for doing absolutely nothing wrong.

two, how many other times has this happened and been swept under the carpet? we, naturally, believe everything we read in the papers regarding high profile cases like this, and when 'facts' are being presented by government representatives, we tend to take it without question as fact. more so, have their been cases like this that didnt even make it into the media?

its disgusting, and harrowing.

I've not read this thread as I've just watched the first episode... That on its own is enough, I can't comprehend how there is another 7 episodes.

I've not read anything at all about it, apart from hearing the name being mentioned, and the first episode drained and shocked me!

there are ten episodes in all

Just watched all of this in 2 days.

I'm so deflated and frustrated after watching this. They really did a number on a avery and Brendan. There are some proper villains in the prosecution, Kratz, Fassbender and his mate, Lenk and the other officer, even the smug tashy one at the start with the shit drawing of avery that he had framed. It's all seems crazy that this whole thing came from a case of mistaken identity for that first offence.

Those officers who were interrogating Brendan ffs! I was really hoping he would find the words in court to say they manipulated me, he didn't even have that in him.

f***ing frustrating and tragic

I thought Stevens lawyers were great like

Bless his Mam and Dad but especially his mam, strong as an ox

Fuck Ken Kratz

I would of put money on it being the Ex-BF, with the help of the room mate

There was mentions of stalking, and he seemed a bit weird, but why would you lead a public search for you ex, if you didnt have anything to hide

I think he seen a brilliant oppertunity with Steven Avery with the lawsuit and everything, and planted the car there

I also believe that Lenk and Colburn, planted evidence to make Avery appear guilty, as in there mind he was, i think when Colburn made the call with the reg number he was on the Avery Yard looking for evidence without a permission so he knew he had to send someone else on to find it

Ruben ''the hurricane'' carter was a major case at the time - thankfully he got justice in the end but I fear the Avery's wont or at least for a good few years to come.

Not me mate - I've witnessed at first hand how Northumbria's finest have operated in the past to stitch up totally innocent people and manipulated the press to this end.

Didn't Ruben admit he was guilty lately?? Or have I imagined that??
