Not all of them did. Some won fewer points than they did last season.

Dunno if he'd be wanted by PSG, but yeah Marseille might interest him and be interested in him.

You're right about the top 6.

But on average teams picked up more points this season, presumably because the bottom 2 teams were so bad. So the fact you picked up more points this season means nothing, when the fact of the matter is you fell further behind. Is that progress? Looks like Rafa has taken you's backwards.

He's consolidated them. If we ever got back to the Prem I'd be delighted if we finished 13th in our first two seasons back. I'd want to push on in the third season though and the Mags will want to do that.

Consolidation really, first season back finishing 10th was surprising, but same points and a few goals here or there and we'd have finished 13th last season. Which is about right given what we started with and what we were able to add to it.

All a bit moot though, if/when Benitez goes I'd be surprised if this squad (minus Rondon, Perez & Ritchie) would be able to do any better, most likely we'll have a season battling relegation without three player who were vital in keeping us up this year. Consolidation is valuable if you use it as a foundation to grow from. Even if that growth is in terms of quality of player, strength in depth and showing ambition in the cups.

I have just received an e-mail from BBC Sports about the following comment on the Newcastle win yesterday. It has been deleted. The comments were the usual Rafa is the man/Ashley out. I didn't think was too bad really.

"I wonder how they get away with this rubbish. They have an owner that does not like them and they do not like him. 500000 just stand outside the Church Hall on the slant listening to the washing drying. They spend more time on a 2nd division's fans board than their own. They stage funerals, shout at shops, ruin bedsheets with slogans. Everyone's 2nd favourite team that just keeps on giving... "

Half a million?

There's more than that.

I'm absolutely convinced they'll announce the Benitez news one way or the other on the day our promotion / non promotion is confirmed.

This thread sums up this forum very well. Newcastle win 4-0, but people somehow want to convince themselves, and others that it was a poor result.
