Just been looking at the Carling cup draw, now had Newcastle fielded the team that beat us comfortably, against Arsenal, they would have drawn Wigan and with Man Utd not at their best and likely to continue fielding weakend teams there's no-one else to fear in the competition. Has their desire to beat us ultimately cost them their 1st Cup in over 40 years?;)

i do realise it says "over" as well

well last season, our two cup defeats were against villa and portsmouth, who both got to the respective finals

now west ham are in the quarters and may get to a final but end up relegated like portsmouth and ourselves back in 1985

Who's to say they would have beaten Wigan? Didn't make a very good job of it in the league.

Aye but they probably wouldn't have been because the draw wouldn't have been the same.
