Doubt either will be rescinded. Bad refereeing, but the FA will stand by their man.

..mmmm, what's the betting they win both ??
Nailed on - they never lose, after all.
Shelvey tried to kick someone in the head, red card. The other was a push in the back of a player who was trying to score, another red. Not sure what else the referee could've done tbh.
The push in the back was soft but Dummett was still all over him and asking for it.
Wtf ??When was the last time Newcastle United lost a game? We won’t lose on Friday. We might not win, but I’ve got every confidence we won’t lose. Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United don’t lose games of football.

Wtf ??
That's an interesting take on it, but I've watched the incident, a lot, and he definitely doesn't "try to kick someone in the head". Lansburys kicks and trip Shelvey, who then tries to kick out of the tangle (stupidly) and Lansbury reacts like he's been mauled by a tiger.

The other, Lansbury is already tumbling before Dummett gets there and any contact is accidental.

For what it's worth this is the consensus opinion, including the opinion of Keith Hackett.
Unfortunately thats what happens. Well, not unfortunate in this case![]()
Should still be a penalty, but it should have been a red as it wasn't clear that no attempt was made to win the ball. Rules were changed to stop the "Triple Punishment" of; Penalty, red & suspension.Doesn't matter if it's accidental. It's a foul.
To be honest, I don't even blame the referee & his assistants. They're clearly out of their depth and just let the occasion get to them. The FA should never have chosen them for a game of this size (not saying it's a massive game before anyone gets precious). Newcastle vs Forest on tv, should have had a more experienced referee, especially as Forest have been involved in so many games featuring red cards.

I get that it's becoming an argument about semantics, but I don't think Shelvey is deliberately kicking at Lansbury's head, I think he's just trying to kick free of the tangle. The point is that before he tries to untangle himself, Lansbury kicks him.I've watched that again and Shelvey still kicks at the head of Lansbury with his left leg. There's no way that one will be overturned. The other one is really soft but you can see the FA backing the referee as Dummett still has his hands on the back of the player.
Not convinced they'll get the other one overturned either. They won't win the Shelvey one.
