Mag banter at work

In my opinion Saturday summed up Newcastle their first eleven is competitive in that league and with Andy Carroll will always pose a substantial attacking threat. However the squad is threadbare in places and their back four has been masked by the fine performances of Tiote as I think that is where their team/squad is at its weakest. They will finish 13th to 16th in my opinion as West Ham, Wolves, Wigan & Fulham have more to worry about

I don't think so this year. I reckon around 40 will be needed.

Hard to tell. I've seen that said time and time again these past few seasons, especially around this time of year. Were it true we wouldn't be sitting where we are now.

40 points should see anyone safe, but I wouldn't be surprised to see 36/37 being enough.

You could be right but I don't see three teams being cast adrift and the top teams aren't picking up as many points as usual, so I expect there to be a load of teams bunched together.

Its hard to say, everyone seems capable of beating everyone in a mediocre at best bottom half of the table this season. It should see a more even distribution of points. I think Wolves will be cast adrift, closely followed by West Ham (unless they get rid of Grant. If they do, they have enough quality, organised properly, to mount a challenge for survival).

"Everton will control the game tonight cos youz don't really have much of a midfield"

FFS man

He could be right regarding the first part like. They've seen our midfield overrun up at their place and Everton have a lot of quality across the midfield. We're at home though and hopefully can put in the performance required to get something from the game. It'll be a very tough game tonight.

Saturday just showed what a great player Tiote is. i havent watched the mags often this season but ive thought their defence looked shaky even after they dropped the excellent Perch. tiote has looked superb

we are only playing chelsea man, little sides like birmingham & sunderland have beaten them easily in the league

nee bother like;)

shints, did you ever drink up bg's (before it become a michelin star) or the legion?

rough as sandpaper but used to be a canny laugh. (short spell in birt for me before setting up roots in penshaw)

Apart from his gift for Blackburn's first goal, he's been excellent.

Dan,
was talking to one only a couple of days after they lashed us, said he had expected the result as they always beat us, and we never beat them. Every time that we have beaten them it was due to outside interference! ie; bad referee, Ruud Gullit, treacherous weather conditions, etc. Also, could not see any reason why they will not qualify for Europe, and was looking at finishing in 4th top this year. I jest not. This kid geniunely believed what he was saying. He was a canny enough lad aswell, footy and Newcastle daft, but not malicious with it.

i would give CH another contract yes he deserves it some cracking results this year along with some total nightmares of course, but not sure the players control things totally but there is a definite clique going on

without any cash to spend in jan our paper thin squad (see satda tiote & barton out and we get overran in midfield easily) is looking scary...

cant see any other manager with any sense coming anywhere near us either

When's Ben Arfa due back?

Tiote is a very under rated player. There must be a reason that Twente won the league and it was probably because they had a solid defensive line.

How much did he cost?

On loan, I believe.

Agree with this. No runaway leaders/any teams cast adrift at the bottom = more points for everyone else.

Every aspect of this league is gonna be tight this season.
