Great is some of these shop fronts could be restored some howThe biggest issue is that the ground floor frontage has been wiped out, much like elephant tea rooms.
Some more info here. This claims it closed in 1981!
What is a shame is the 60s infill to the building opposite Mackies corner.

There was a furniture store there called Cantors - and there was cladding up then.
I am thinking it was late 70's /early 80's.

I think it was called "Wades" when it had a fire around 1982.

Fat Unicorn. Got a lovely bottle of Italian red and some purple potatoes from there the other day. Roasting the spuds shortly (garlic, rosemary, seasoning) to have with some salt marsh lamb.Went to a shop there today. Got a load of class beers, infused teas, cheeses and meats.
