Lyndon Gooch

The hand/arm waving is daft like as he doesnt actually shout to anyone or organise when other teams come at us.
Hope he bangs one in on saturday and shuts people up.
He will bang one in from the edge of the area in the next 3 or 4 games but he'll probably then have 3 or 4 poor games.

This pattern isn't a recent thing, I've been waiting at least 4 years for him to find some consistency.

Whatever the coaches are focusing on with him it's either not working or he's unable to retain it, I really want him to succeed but I'm not sure my opinion of what success for him is matches his.

Exactly.

If he was more consistent I’d guess he would have moved on whilst we languished in League 1. Gooch will continue to frustrate, have a dozen good games a season but well-managed will make a useful contribution.

The only thing that might improve matters is a bit of competition and maybe for the first time in a good few years this seems to be happening.

Watched the game. There's times with Gooch you want to pull your hair out he's so frustrating to watch, then there's times of quality.

He needs someone to have a good word with about getting your head up, improve your vision, make the right decisions when to pass when to go. There's a good player in this lad, it just needs bringing out.

So going off this logic someone like Scott Fraser (who this board fawn over) is shite as well then along with Burtons player who is now flavour of the week.
I don’t know what you’re talking about...

my post was based on Gooch being “one of the best player in League 1” and the little interest in him by other clubs.

I wonder if there is anyway to detect if it's gonna be a good day or bad day before the match begins.

It may be related to who the full back is or what type of full back it is.

We could only play him on his good days ! Easy this management lark.

He's an academy product who likes living in the area. Loyalty is still a thing to some people.
Here's a link to an article about possible interest from Middlesbrough. They chose the cheap option.
When you say he’s one of the best players in League 1, what are you talking about? Top 5, top 3, top 30?? He barely gets a look by the US National team, it doesn’t seem like he’s the difference getting us out of League 1 and there’s no teams making any substantial bids for him to help us financially.
The fact is, he’s an ok/good League 1 player but to say he’s one of the best (Top 5) is a stretch!

Well I'm glad I've got you to a point of not calling him shit, like many on this board are. So that's good. I'd say technically he's one of the best footballers in this division. But you dont have to worry about it anymore, it's just my opinion :)

I daren't post a response that this deserves , I’d cop a ban. Gooch , first name on the team sheet every game for me. Even on an off day like Tuesday he still ripped Burton FB to shreds first half and in the second when switched to the left he found it easy to turn back inside onto his right foot to cross. Massive player for us at this level would walk into any LG 1 and a few championship teams.
Go on man post your reaction, we all have different opinions mate. in my eyes Gooch is a tryer and that's all, he may have the odd good game but he is no worldbeater by any stretch of the imagination, mind you in my 50 years of watching the lads he is by no means the worst.

I like Gooch, but think it may be time to take him out - maybe for Broadhead, who wil offer more of a goal threat.

Will score and assist his fair share over the course of the season. He is a third tier winger so he's going to blow hot and cold.

Where's the interest for Fraser or Burtons league one Messi?
I don’t know...what’s that have to do with Gooch and how this board overrates SAFC players???

Never called him shit...just that he’s frustrating to watch.
