I think Lynden is inconsistent, but is one of our best players on his day so it's no wonder he's always in the side. He's a very good player at this level. I also think that he's harshly treated by fans sometimes. 1 bad game and theres always a thread on here about him. I'm not sure if thats because he's been here hroughout all of our struggles or something but definitely gets stick quicker than others imo.

From the Californian Messi to absolute shit in the space of 90 minutes or so

He blows hot and cold, always has. Not sure why folk are so surprised. Capable of winning games on his own and we don’t have much to replace him with anyway.

Consistency has, and will always be the main issue with him. I’ll not be worrying to much about him in this league.

I think we look decent and someone will get a good old fisting soon, he’ll probably play a big part in that…

His powerful driving runs put them on the back foot first half and some of the second mind. They were hating playing against him. Just needs to make that last bit more productive. I think people take for granted what he brings to the team.
Yes. But he needs to realise that drawing extra defenders to him, which his running often does, means his job is half done and that is the point when he needs to shift the ball, having contributed to the overload. Too often he turns into trouble i.e.the extra defender.

Agreed, he’s no world beater but he’s a good player at this level just like most players he has good and bad games

i was guilty of this with Larsson and him consistently smashing set pieces into the man on the near post. sometimes its that lack of end product that sticks in the mind, not everything else he does.

just needs to burn the defender and lift his head up. if he won't lift his head up, he needs to be told to put the cross in a specific place, so everyone knows that if he's free, they need to attack a specific zone. right now, we rarely have anyone who goes near post as its a bit of a worthless position most the time.
That's right. the longer he holds the ball, the less his chances of creating something. He is rapid enough, but I don't think he is quick-thinking. So play to the early near-post ball tactic as you suggest and we'd all benefit.

I think Gooch would be more suited to playing just behind the forward, I'd swap him and Embleton around.

A lot of players in league one are inconsistent, it's the ratio of good games to bad games that is the key.

Gooch is borderline when it comes to good v bad games, I reckon he manages 1 good game and 1 ok game every 4 to 5 games.

Some players having a bad game are just invisible but Gooch is very heavily involved when he's having a good or bad game so if he's having a bad game generally it has a huge impact on the team performance as a whole.

Was it not Gooch who crossed for Flanagan?? No end product yet our "goal" came from a superb Gooch cross.

If Gooch was playing for a different team in this league, we'd all want to sign him...
Mate I literally addressed this exact point in the OP, are you incapable of reading?

I don't have a problem with the lad. His will to win is second to none but unfortunately it can also his biggest downfall at times. If he could just wind his neck in a bit his game would improve no end.

Mind if I was striker having seen that I’d be darting towards the front post whenever Gooch broke free and Theyd probably get a hatful. It’s maybe just players getting used to each other’s game.
Its typically a very low value area and requires a lot of work from the attacker to turn the angle to their favour. Id much rather he defaulted to penalty spot if he's not gonna look up

Play him but get him off if he is not delivering. Both he and McGeady could have no complaint if they had been hooked at half time last night.

If he had a footballing brain he would be decent as he has good attributes, pace, skill, shooting and determination.

He is let down time after time though because he doesn't release the ball quick enough, doesn't cross early enough or he just isn't aware of anything around him. Last night when Winchester went beyond him and he held it until he was smothered out is a prime example of why he isn't playing at a higher level. He should have spotted his run and already have laid the ball off and moved.

He's also fallen into the trap of being asked to play anywhere because of some of the attributes he has, being undroppable is not what you want if it means having to go and play LB for 25 mins. Good cross at the end, however, he'd slightly overran it so had to cross.

I think hes become to predictable as his first instinct is to cut in. He needs to be a little bit more direct and keep running at the player rather then the inevitable cut back

One f***ing game ffs.

How many times have you watched Burtons number 11?
I think you're missing the point a bit. Gooch has had lots of performances like these at this level. I'm frankly not surprised people are losing patience. You're right the Burton #11 is a nobody but he stilled looked a substantial improvement on Gooch, and in all fairness they've performed well since Hasselbank took over.

I'm not sure he is that skillful mind.
If Flanagan has been half a yard back and onside, Gooch would has assisted the equalizer and would deserve credit
1 good cross in 90 minutes is not exactly a good game for a winger.
