Lyndon Gooch

What does Evans being in the team have to do with broadhead and Pritchard taking Gooch and McGeadys spot in the team?
On present form Evans is first pick next to 09 or Neil. If both of them play then Gooch McGeady or Embleton has to make way.
On present form it would be Gooch or McGeady.
If their form is still below par then LJ under pressure to use Pritchard or Broadhead to keep them happy.

What on earth? Evans plays CM, Pritchard out wide, there is no connection whatsoever between the two. It’s 2 from 3 of onien Neil and Evans at present, then 3 from 5 of McGeady Gooch Embleton Pritchard broadhead. Not sure why there’s a connection between Evans being fit and Pritchard playing or not

My 2 favorite players was my least favorite tonight Gooch and Geads should both have done better, oh well on to the next game. Dan Neil looks so good though he just needs time in the first team

Lynden Gooch is one of the best players in league one.

You're all mental.
Mate that first half Stewart flicks to him, Neil through balls his driving runs took us from defensive to goal opportunity. Burton spent most of the game chasing Gooch towards their goal. He gave them a torrid time. His low balls to the near post need some amendment yes, but how our ‘fans‘ failed to notice his impact is beyond me.

He's a good player, but like all players in the Championship and League One has an off day at times.

Burton were backs to the wall much of the second half, they were well organised and difficult to break down, but we had ample opportunities to score. They only have themselves to blame. The game could and really should have been over at half time.

He’s simply just not a very intelligent footballer imo. If he was he would probably be playing in the Championship. He’s still a vital player for us this season and a top performer at this level - but make no mistake, this is his level.

He’s nothing more than a trier. It stood out a mile last night, our slick passing came to a halt every time gooch got the ball. Yeah he runs about a lot and pirouettes with the ball but it’s not productive and we lose momentum. It happened so many times last night. Burtons right winger showed more directness and caused us problems every time he got the ball.

Gooch always takes responsibility, always shows, always goes direct to hurt the defence and works tirelessly.
He sometimes over does this left foot shooting thing and tries to cross the ball when it’s stuck under his feet and he can’t get it off the deck. He’s a trier though and full of energy. I find it difficult have a proper go at him like.

Hello tonight was really encouraging and in my opinion our style is night and day from last season, so overall not too deflated at all. One thing I’m going to bring up negatively is Gooch, when is he ever going to learn to pick the right pass? in your opinion, at what stage does it become too much and he gets dropped.

i know the counter argument is going to be that he provided the ball for the offside goal but his conversion rate on crosses given he gets himself in the positions is horrific.

is Pritchard worth a start on Saturday?
Did you not notice him picking the perfect pass for Stewart to score a perfectly good goal? If we didn't have an incompetent linesman we'd be talking about Gooch coming up with the perfect assist at the right time. There is a massive tendency on here to try to blame a poor result on individual's weakness - last night it was Gooch and bizarrely O'Nien. The reality was last night was the reason we didn't win was due to a combination of brilliant goalkeeping/poor finishing/an inept linesman and bad luck, it was not down to Gooch's faults. We are down in Division 3 so all players will have some weaknesses but Gooch is an excellent player for this level.

Typical Gooch performance did some things well did some things not so well.
He will be effective for us at this level but its his 4th season in League 1 and no rumours of Championship teams wanting him speaks volumes.

1st team player in League 1
Squad player in the Championship
Not good enough to be at a Premier league club

It's fairly clear when Gooch is having one of his 'off' days. The trick is for LJ to pull him off earlier. This will come.

i was guilty of this with Larsson and him consistently smashing set pieces into the man on the near post. sometimes its that lack of end product that sticks in the mind, not everything else he does.

just needs to burn the defender and lift his head up. if he won't lift his head up, he needs to be told to put the cross in a specific place, so everyone knows that if he's free, they need to attack a specific zone. right now, we rarely have anyone who goes near post as its a bit of a worthless position most the time.

Mind if I was striker having seen that I’d be darting towards the front post whenever Gooch broke free and Theyd probably get a hatful. It’s maybe just players getting used to each other’s game.
