Season starts here!!

Great to have a championship match thread, game starts Sunday at 11am.

We've not won at Taunton since 2005 and in my opinion it's the toughest place to visit in the CC, maybe good to get it out the way.

I've made clear my feelings on preparation, Somerset have had much more practice than us, let's just hope our lads hit the ground running.

I know I'm excited.

Squad:
5. Paul Collingwood (Capt)
23. Mark Stoneman
1. Keaton Jennings
16. Scott Borthwick
18. Michael Richardson
10. Calum MacLeod
2. John Hastings
19. Phil Mustard
29. Paul Coughlin
9. Graham Onions
22. Chris Rushworth
78. Usman Arshad
17. Ryan Pringle

and Harrison is playing in a 2nd match and on his way back to fitness.

Lewis confirmed, will be the same team as against the uni

Is Muchall injured or just not fancied?

There's some articles up on the Chron website about this game.

I picked this snippet up from Rushy's piece.
"Seven or eight years ago Chester-le-Street was somewhere where you got bowler-friendly two-day games, but that’s not the case any more. I think last year it was the highest-scoring ground in the country."
I knew it was playing differently but I hadn't realised it had changed quite that much.

Heard Muchall was not considered for Uni game because of "family commitments". Not sure if he is in second team squad at Bristol, starting Monday.
Looks like Pringle and Arshad will be with seconds, unless anyone gets injured.

righto, haway the lads, tough first game, but lets stay in it!

Strange strange situation with McLeod, 11 months ago he was on fire in limited over cricket but could he hell get into our 4 day team. Only as his form went gash did he then become a CC regular, and now he is fresh off the back of a dreadful world cup, he seems a shoe-in for the number 5 batting slot:rolleyes:.

What a f***ing class catch

Nothing in the way of updates on the Durham twitter page.
Kick off is at 11.

I must say, Collingwood has been brilliant so far. Just looking outside now and the weather is gash, his decision to stage the first game down at Taunton is the thing of which Championships are made!

Durham as expected although there wqas a chance that Pringle would play.

Unreal. No doubt Darren Stevens will be for Kent too and possibly Trego for Somerset.

Reasonable start for the lads. Anyone know what the weather is like down there? Chucking it down in CLS. There would have been no play ATM if it was up here.
