Us beating Middlesex helps them as they are sitting 12 points behind them and if Lancs can get a draw today that will be down to 7 and they play each other next.

Surely as both Lancs and Middlesex can't win the game, we would be safe anyway as long as we win today

Yes, thats what I said. If they draw they can get a max of 29 points and we will be 30 ahead with a win today. Their run rate is poor at the moment which suggests to me they have one eye on the draw and trying to pull Middlesex back in (just as I post this they take 11 of an over).

No because Middlesex have two games left not one. In reality we would probably only need to scrape a few bonus points.
 
Its not inconceivable that we could finish 3rd by the way. Win today and we would be 26 points behind Notts with a game in hand v Northants. Stranger things have happened.

Lancs 9 down so if Smith does not come back out Sussex need 245 to win. EDIT - Smith returns.
 
Tom Smith gets a bouncer first up and is uncomfortable apparently, so sounds like he's not going to bowl which means they will be relying on jimmy.

Chapple opened in the first innings mind. But you'd imagine smith cannit bowl if he needed a runner to come back to bat.

And one to go for Durham
