I live 45 minutes from Luton and have been there numerous times , and I can say hand on heart sunderland as a place beats Luton hands down
I live in warden hills off the a6, I love it. If you judge Luton like most do by bury park or the grotty town centre ( not many ain't ) does seem a bit shallow.

Not sure the design with the lights will age well. Couldn't get away with that up here, the weight of the seagulls would break it.

What's that reality show of Sunderland on the BBC in the morning ? It was on a few months ago to follow police in the area.
I’m not sure but Sunderland was on a programme called ‘City by the sea’ iirc. There will be plenty of scenes of empty shops, disused industrial areas but nowt about our leafy commuter belt, fantastic coastline and magnificent country parks.

Tell your friends at the bbc that when they make docudramas about grim northern towns.

Applause, sir!

I get sick and tired of southern based media companies making documentaries that clearly have an agenda.
They compare well-off southerners living in attractive streets with underclass northerners living in the absolute worst areas they can find.

I also get sick and tired of people taking a pop at Sunderland, worse still people from the city!
I’ve been to many towns and cities over the years and my honest opinion of Sunderland is that while it needs more attractions and some considerable improvement in the city centre, it is a bloody good city to live in and is nowhere near being the dump it’s often portrayed to be.

It’s trendy to knock Sunderland, and the Magedia doesn’t help, but it’s a decent place overall.

There’s more than enough shitty areas down south, yet they’re painted as ‘up and coming’ despite being ugly dives, just because they’re in or near the capital. You’d be hard pressed to find a real slum in Sunderland, I can’t think of any. Nor can I think of anywhere I wouldn’t walk through.

There’s virtually no gun crime in Sunderland, no armed robberies, random stabbings, gang culture and so on.
It’s within a few minutes drive of Gateshead, Newcastle, and Durham, which I maintain is one of the most beautiful cities in the country. 40 minutes or so gets you into Weardale and Teesdale or North Yorkshire for some spectacular scenery south easterners could only dream of. We have a sea front and beaches which is a huge bonus.

There’s some great views in Sunderland as well, with it being built on hills. Looking across the city from Tunstall Hills always gives me a buzz.

I’m so glad I was born in Sunderland.

Looks okay to me like. A bit different which is always a good thing and should suit Luton well. Not too big, but if they somehow morph into some near London bigger club it looks as if it could be extended pretty easily.

Good luck to them I'd say, They have had a poor ground for ever it seems, and had a horrific time generally in recent years. Good luck to them, but I hope they slip back a bit this year!

Well said mind!

I've hoyed mesell about a bit as well, and Sunderland is a very long way from the worst place I've ever been to.

Well said sir and I accept your last point in good grace. We won't be a threat to the top two this year, it's to early for us on the rebound from near disaster but one day soon ? Probably. I would be more worried by Barnsley to be fair.

Post some pics of the nice parts of Luton, then.
Go on, change our perceptions.
Google it. If you know warden hills I defy anyone to say it's not beautiful.
