Great attitude, good personality around the club but limited as a player and often gets well caught out if he's up against anyone with pace. Bought as a CM but seems to lack the ability to pick a pass or have that awareness that you need to play in the middle of the park (not that the rest are any/much better).

Eveyones got a price... and does what he give us in terms of assists and goals from the right hand side, make him too valuable to sell?.....I dont think it does.

I'd keep him but I wouldnt be gutted of he went. We should always be looking out for better anyway.

Whats the point of selling man?

what benefit is that to you?

we bought 1 player this season, despite numerous sale

none of the money goes into the club

We only have 11 senior players in contract after June.

Burge
McLaughlin Willis Hume
Gooch Power Leadbitter Dobson Embleton
Grigg Wyke
So that's:
Burge
McLaughlin Willis Power
Gooch Hume
Dobson Leadbitter
Grigg Wyke Embleton

Our usual 3-4-3
Can anyone see a problem with that?

The concept of loyalty is for fans only.

Players aren’t loyal, and clubs aren’t loyal to players anymore. The financial aspects affect both of them.

The list of out of contract players isn’t packed full of players that have provided sustained value for their fee and/or wage.

As ever recruitment will come under scrutiny and I have zero faith in those in decision making positions.

Realistically we should have the pick of three quarters of League One and all of League Two. Proper recruitment should allow a squad to be put together that is able to gain promotion.

It would nice to have a spine retained but any spine I come up with isn’t the basis for a successful team in my opinion. Even if the financials did stack up and the player wanted to stay.

Spine of McLoughlin, Wright, Power, Wyke Is the best we have, with obvious issues over contracts and ability!

Zero debt and the income a full and rocking stadium should give us a huge advantage- but no investment and the rightful apathy of the core of our support mean it’s a virtual pipe dream that either will happen.

ITHICS.

He wouldn't get in Celtics side. Frimpong is quality and miles better than O'Nien
He’d struggle to get in Cardiff’s.
Honestly there is some real talent around that won’t cost a transfer fee.
If the club is right, the football suits the player and you have a forward thinking Manager you can assemble a side that could get you out of League One.
Some of the players may need a little man management but definitely some gems around.
With your set up it could sway a few decisions attracting players.
Our current regime wouldn’t recognise a footballer if one bit them on the arse.

Another factor is momentum isn’t it.
If you can keep a decent nucleus together and add 2 or 3 players to compliment a style and brand that suits your football you have a chance at any level.
The unknown right now as to when the income streams will be open again is delaying everything.
Equally with us we have a “little” unknown issue regarding a potential Court case in the future that could bring the roof down in true Swindon style.
We’ve not got a decent nucleus. We’ve maybe half a dozen out of the entire playing staff who are comfortable playing in the top half of this division. Note I never mentioned winning promotion. The rest are way out of their depth, panicking every time the ball goes near them. It’s the worst it’s ever been.

How many of that half a dozen have contracts beyond the summer?

Rapidly losing patience/interest prior nevermind if him n the keeper disapear.
Turning to ratshit this.

I'm still trying to find half a dozen personally.
Oh they’d all nivver play as first choices in a team that won automatic promotion. I’m on about they’d be ok for 10-15 goes on the pitch ower a season top whack. I’m not daft enough to think they could do owt else. There’s only Donald and Methvens and their marras daft enough to think owt like that.
Jeeeez I know I’m not the sharpest tool in the box but there’s nowt in my posting history to suggest owt like that surely.

Because thats what happens in football. Theres clearly going to be very little in the transfer kitty so if a good offer comes in then all/some of that money can be put to either buying a player or two or maybe even tempting a free transfer with slightly high wages.

What does Onien actually bring that is irreplaceable to the team that kf a decent offer comes in, the club shouldn't think about it?
