Losing a stone and a half

I got under 11 stone for the first time in a while yesterday. Celebrated by drinking champagne (missus had bought it), vodka, eating crisps and a bag of mini eggs then feeding today's hangover with cider and two pizzas. Back to 11 stone 1
I read some of Lyle McDonald’s web site last week and he reckons that flexible dieting works best. You don’t need to punish yourself.

I’m about to try and lose a stone and a half, only my target weight is around the OP’s start weight.

On the scales tonight after my holidays weighing in at 15st4lbs. Up until the summer I was 13st10 but I’ve been hating work and had constant illnesses over the winter (kids in nursery), so ended up comfort eating. The fact my weights set up is in the garden and it’s dark and cold at night hasn’t helped either.

From tomorrow I’m 3 days a week weights, 2 days run, and healthy eating. I will allow myself 2 pints on a Friday and the same on a Saturday as a treat, and will still so my monthly boys night out (I’ll skip the closing time McDonalds though) but that is the only times I’ll let myself be “bad”.

Half the battle/target is getting the head right before you start a diet and fitness regime. You have already hit the first part by setting a programmed week, a start date and a commitment. Found for me cutting bread worked for a fortnight, and now only occasional bread/bread roll use bread was my Achilles heel, would normally eat at least 8 slices per day, although my sister has lost a lot of weight and still eats a slice of wholemeal bread every day, but she does Slimming World.

Now I have two or three slices per week on some weeks and on others none. Just hold the thought, I am not alone in this and if others can do it so can I. It's a mantra that keeps me going when I get pissed off with myself and break my diet. Just start again the very next day. I find sometimes my weight can go up a couple of pounds just due to fluid retention and I start worrying and a few days later back to or just below the weight I was fretting about.

Currently stuck on a weight and have been for a week or so and then in a few weeks will hopefully start to shift it again. Good luck with this and I wish you every success you will find plenty of support on this or on the weight thread 2018.

Yeah I’m pretty much sorted - the lighter nights should mean it makes getting out after the kids are in bed easier, and my wife is training for the Edinburgh half marathon which includes her shedding about a stone too so between her and this place I should have plenty of support.

I lost 5 stone when I was 19 and, until 6 months ago, had stayed between 13st3lbs (at my lightest, and 11% body fat with it but at 33 I’ll never get back to that again) and 14st4lbs (at the peak of my first time doing StrongLifts) for about 14 years.

Good luck marra!

Started eating healthy in sept last year and have shifted 1.25 stone to date. Doesn't feel like a diet as more than happy eating home made prepared meals/ lots of fish, chicken and eggs. Don't drink in the house anymore, just out socialising. Aiming to shift another 1 stone by august . Just started a new job which involves 3 miles of walking a day so should be achievable.

It's great when shirts / jeans fit better mind :D

Easily doable. I went from 14 stone 10 to 12 stone 3 in 4 months when I was 55. Stopped eating bread completely, cut my sugar intake drastically and avoided processed foods.
Learned a little about nutrition, simple and complex carbs etc. To be honest it was far simpler than I imagined. Wish I'd done the twat years ago.

Is the correct answer.

Just catching up with this thread - could I ask, did you drop that weight just by changing your diet in 4 months or do you exercise as well?

Finally back on the diet and lost 7 of the 9 lbs, I had put back on due to comfort eating and eating crap. On 13 stone at the moment, 2 lbs to lose to put me back on track. Then time to hit the next 12 lbs after that - never ever seems as much bloody effort to put the weight on.

But takes commitment and a lots of other ticks in various boxes to get rid of the bloody excess. My target is down to 12 and a half stones which is hopefully achievable then reassess once reached there.

12 stone 13 this morning. Probably a bit dehydrated but better than 13 st 9 last month! Happy with progress so far, still off beer and eating healthy although I'm probably being slightly less restrictive now than I was when I started.
Have a beer or takeaway on a Saturday night if you want one, it’s your reward for being strict the whole week. That’s what I do anyway but it’s each to their own.

12 stone 6 this morning
Down from 13 st 7 when I started this thread in January

Just as strong, if not stronger, and beginning to look defined with abs etc. Body fat around 15%. Still have the odd weekend on the piss and midweek takeaway, but generally eat very healthily, homemade food etc.

Going to keep trying to lose weight by eating at a calorie deficit with loads of protein and daily weights/running. Feeling great so why stop now?

Well done mate, some achievement.
