Looks like we're struggling to get our top targets in

Who is doing our negotiations? I would be a lot more confident if it was Charlie Methven doing them. I could listen to him talk all day long

I don't agree. Not every player would be like that, but the majority probably would. If you are talking £5k for top wage in League 1, and £20k in league 2, then not many people will do that, unless they are already millionaires and just want to play
not all but the majority- so you're limiting the players you can sign and we need the best at this level if we want promotion. As long as they're 100% committed while they're here I don't see the problem.

We've been an unfashionable club for about a decade or longer, hence one of the key reasons we are in this shit is because we had to spend more money on mediocre players to get them to come here.

We are now in league 1 after two successive relegations.

Why oh why would we suddenly become fashionable and players would beg to come here?

Some unbelievable Ross tinted specs on a lot of posters still. Without wanting to be agist, I think it will be harder for the older Safc supporters to really grasp how we look to neutral third parties
Canny ;):D

If you read back, the 100% committed was my stance from the offset. If they are not we shouldn't even look at them

aye to come here, that's different.
at the wage level these players are at and the length of contract they're going to have to be more careful. it's not like we're chucking around 10m contracts any more

As an older supporter I can easily grasp how we might not look all that attractive. The large crowds won't encourage players who've heard them turn on players for little reason or seen them rush off to beat the traffic rather than support the team for 90+ mins

That's why it is so important now that we are where we are that we set out who we realistically can be in the future. Its got to be within budget and about what the academy is producing. If Burnley can do it why not us. I think we have a head start as our academy seems to be well ahead of theirs. If we can attract the best Scotland, Ireland and Scandinavia has to offer (similar culture and life style) then no reason not to succeed. While I know it's early days the manager seems to have a bit of an edge on him and the players seem to like playing for him so I feel this bodes well for the future. We have to find another way than just throwing cash at it and in all reality our city can't support a wealthly/superstar life style so we must find another way and Burnley have shown it's doable.

Evans waiting for a championship club to come in source RR
Eisa off to Bristol city

Just shows how tough it is for Ross and Donald to get the players they want to come in and join their vision for the club
I wouldn’t trust anything RR says, they just keep saying stuff everyday hoping to actually get something right

We've put a good offer in, it's been accepted....hopefully the lad can make up his mind soon.

If I were in his shoes, I'd want to have a look round the club and take it from there, I find it weird that you would just accept a job without actually meeting your future employer first.

I think its time some of our fans realise we are a league one club, just because wed crawl over broken glass to play for us, why should a professional footballer drop a league lower just "because it's Sunderland". We've won nowt for years and the way we've been ran over the past few years, we'll be as popular as a Fart in a spacesuit.
We couldn’t get players here when we were in the premier league man, people who keep saying they only want players that want to be here and 100 percent committed etc that doesn’t exist. Players are only interested in money, do you think any of the lads we’ve signed so far would’ve been here if other clubs hadn’t offered them more money?.
