Looks like SAFC could be heading for an unplanned Christmas break... literally

Usually no matter how bad things seem, clubs with any historical standing in dire straits have tended to pull something out and manage to carry on, but now we seem to be in new and uncharted territory and the game overall needs to readjust to the financial reality or not only will these two fail but many will follow. It's a great shame.
Especially when over £1bn changes hands on transfer fees in the top flight.
The big clubs may be happy just now but if the small clubs at the bottom of the pyramid start to fall the whole thing could come crashing down. Perhaps there should be a levy on transfer fees to create a fund to help support struggling clubs.

Ok. Let's hope that our game 21/9 isn't the next time their kids need a rest again.

Btw, I have nothing against Bolton, I just think the FL are letting a situation develop that will come back and bite them.
In fairness to the EFL, they didn't agree or weren't consulted with the game being called off today. Bolton called the game off unilaterally.

Unfortunately I think Bury are already gone, and I feel for their supporters, but they haven't played any games so no-one had benefited.

If the takeover succeeds and Bolton recruit a new team, the games they've played will need to be replayed, otherwise, the opposition have played their youth team which is unfair on everyone else.

The Football League need to make some hard decisions very quickly.

Xmas without football will be like Santa hasn't turned up
What a stupid idea that is, what about everyone who played Villa pre-takeover last season?

Or anyone who played a club going through an injury crisis?

A bit like us if we’d had to replay those games we played and lost prior to Keane joining us as manager isn’t it

If it's cancelled with some notice we should try to arrange a home friendly on boxing day against a side from a country on a winter break. Especially if Bury the weekend before is off

Plenty of local non league happening on Boxing Day like. Great advantage for safc if they get a week off while everyone else plays twice. Obviously hope both clubs survive of course

And with games being lost due to internationals. Aye let the games pile up, it worked in our favour last season didn't it?

Hopefully Bolton can get the takeover sorted soon, it isn't looking good for Bury though. As it stands the boxing day game still looks likely to happen.
Unless they pull another trick like theyve done with Doncaster, but like you say, they SHOULD have it sorted

Plenty of other games will be on to attend

A nice little trip down the road to the seaside to watch Whitby v Shields would be a canny day out if last year is anything to go by.

Good shout that, the FA should already perform that function by default, but are IMO not fit for purpose.
