After we won Arsenal 1-0, quite a few on here were saying our attendance was pretty shit. What's happended at the SOS tonight then after the 3-0 whopping of Chelsea?

It'll be interesting to see how a 5–1 thrashing effects the massiveness that is the Barcelona of the North

am i the only one that thought tonight's attendance looked a lot better than previous monday night encounters at our place?

oh. I see. where's the "we'll be lucky to hit 35k" brigade now?

I really can't believe I am reading this thread
The OP wasn't even there.
My dad had a double heart bypass today and came out of theatre at 18:00.
I was at the match because he was in good hands in The Freeman Hospital.
I will hopefully be there tomorrow to see him.

Why? We are doing well but judging bythe first tv pics, there are a lot of empty seats.

You live in Boldon and moaning about the crowd. Fuck right off you stupid f***ing prick.

I hope your dad didn't listen to the match or he would have been back in for another one by half nine  give him my regards

41k IIRC at the Sportsdirect v Blackburn on a weekday night, and 37k v Everton on a weekday night.

With the relative catchment areas of both clubs, I'd wager our 37k is a better attendance than your 41k.

Newcastle have more supporters than Sunderland due to the catchment areas mentioned.

Oh well good result all round marra.

I was in two minds tonight whether I went to the match or not.
My dad would have knacked me for wasting my season ticket, good old yorkshireman ;)

I would honestly say that NUFC have 5 fans to our 1 since the Sky and Keegooooon days.
Luckily around 50% if not more have never been to SJP in their sad lives

I don't agree with 5 to 1, but get your sentiment.

I am from Washy orignally, in terms of lads who went to the match I'd say maybe Sunderland outnumber Mags by 3 to 1, but it is generally accepted that Washington is split 50/50 down the middle (60/40 IMO for us).

People on here should just accept they have more fans than us. Does that mean SAFC are a small club? Of course not..... 40k averages and 10th all time best supported club in England says not. Tin hat needed I bet, but only a fool would say we've got the same number of fans overall.

I agree. But I don't think it's catchment area, just that post-Keegan they were a more attractive prospect for kids to watch etc as well as Newcastle benefiting from more investment as a city and it's much easier to get to these days than Sunderland.

Their Blackburn game wasnt live on sky though, that would have knocked it down,
Not too mention the two previous games theyd knacked us 5-1 and won 0-1 at Arsenal.

They are getting bigger crowds, but the difference is getting smaller, no doubt about that.

I think it's canny cold at home as well.
