So what you're saying is, he shouldn't of allowed us to spend. ~The same thing that 99% of the fans were asking us to do? Ok.

So we haven't had our longest successful run in the top division? Ok.

Again, it is not something i would class as success. I would say it is failure. If you base your ideas of success on a very limited ladder structure aka - being in the premier league = Success well then nobody should moan, the fact is that isnt reality and everybody is moaning. I accept that success is subjective, yet I do question the allegiance of anybody that believe SAFC have been a 'successful' club under Short. I mean maybe Accrington fans may think that, but if we are having to use that logic it just further proves the point that Short has been a disaster.

I understand what you're saying and yes success is subjective so for the point of this topic I have used the criteria of league positioning as a barometer. Using those terms, our current owner has been our most successful, that's a fact.

Can you think of a better way to judge? Certainly don't think the opinions of an average fan after getting thumped would be sensible.

What about meeting your objectives ? Something we have never managed to do.

Just 'staying up' isnt the purpose of being here, its a reactionary ambition that comes after all other hope is lost, like administration. Nobody starts a business with the goal of surviving administration.

Supposition

He probably would take the points deduction over playing the kids.

Its no more supposition than to think Moyes picked the players entirely himself, given all the available evidence from our last 5 or so managers suggests they had their hands tied by the club.

It's just so obvious that we will be lucky to stay up without big investment. He needs to wipe a chunk of the debt, invest £30m in Jan, sell up in the Summer and just write off ever getting involved in us.

We stay up, we don't face bankruptcy, he's still a billionaire and we all move on.

it literally is that simple

The kids are f***ing shit mate, so playing them would be the equivalent of a points deduction. Do you honestly believe that there are 5 premier league ready, high quality footballers just dossing around on our bench being refused time to player out of principle. Our fans call Januzaj shite yet crave f***ing Elliot Embleton plays for us :lol: Ill say this again, being born near to/inside of/on top of/underneath the stadium of light and speaking with an accent similar to the fans has absolutely no correlation what so ever to footballing ability.

Sure but very few teams win the top division. Getting beat most weeks isn't great but we've been worse for the best part of my lifetime. The chap in charge has at least provided some good memory's with his money.

Because he's greedy. I know.

ok, he is worth lets say a billion and Sunderland are worth 200million, that is a fifth of his earnings and wealth tied up in Sunderland. I wouldn't want a fifth of my kitchen cupboards value tied up in Sunderland if i am been honest.

The reports say he wants the money he has put into the club, whether a billionaire wants every penny he has put into Sunderland back is greedy well there are arguments for both sides. Short did give Sunderland an interest free loan to cover debts and those remain interests free should he sell according to reports. Unlike other owners who give the a club an interest free loan from another one of their business but it is only interest free if they still own the club.

Short has made many many mistakes, I would argue backing Bruce, Poyet, PDC and MON as much as he did was one of the more serious errors of judgment. He has been so poorly advised is it criminal.

I mean winning the league should always be the long term goal of every single team, however being a realistic person i understand that is batshit. Aspiring to finish top 10 isnt an obscene desire though, when Short took over full time we were a team that could have gone on to break the Everton/Spurs/Villa/City - 6th/7th grouping in the table. That was the direction we were heading in, and low and behold the two clubs out of those 4 that invested money to a level that is possible within the confines of Shorts wealth are no title challengers. Again of course that is a little ott but its a bit of context behind how far we have regressed and how much promise we had 8 years ago. If it is just good memories you are after, most of those are created in the Championship. Its such a depressing attitude to limit or future potential by our past failings. Things do not have to be this way.

Short has appointed incompetents at executive and management level. He has ratified the most ludicrous player contracts in the club's history and has saddled us with more debt than we've had in history.

Chipping in with loose change from his billions isn't to be celebrated, it's a minimum expectation.
