Local football cancelled again from Monday?

gutted. my team had a cracking opening day result last week. But if it's going to slow the virus then so be it

2 games v last season's champions called off for you and your team marra. We had a free week next week anyway with there been only 9 teams in our league

I’d been asked to go along to train with a few sides. Admittedly not in the prem(I am fat and 34 now mind) but pied it off as I can’t see this season being played out. Think it’s going to be very stop start and will eventually get cancelled again.

I’m afraid you have a very one dimensional view about what constitutes training. Proper games are obviously full of necessary contact. But training is far from just playing games. Rather, there are many ways of training with and without balls which maintain interest and without players being close to one another. Just look on YouTube for football training and see the vast variety of training sessions shown to see how skills, fitness and tactics can be developed and enhanced without playing full or even mini games with player to player contact.

Have you ever seen a group of 10 year olds for example. You think they're going to social distance regardless of what kind of training they are doing? You also miss my point in that if its fine to go to school, be 30 people in a classroom, all use the same hallways, same toilets, all use the same equipment for PE. What will not playing a football match achieve compared to that? The younger the kids are the harder it would be aswell. My point is, its either safe to mingle, be at pubs etc or it isnt. Just another half arsed approach from the government with very little common sense applied.

If you read Durham FA's statement,it doesn't talk about training. It was you who said, 'Worst of it is the Durham FA have said that training is fine still. Does Covid know the difference between a practice game and a league game? '
In fact, Durham FA are at pains to point out that the situation is changing almost daily and local decisions will need to be made depending on changes in circumstances locally as they arise. So, currently, the cancelled fixtures are only covering teams in Sunderland, South Tyneside and Gateshead areas due to increasing outbreaks of coved-19. That might well change. Indeed, my own Durham team's fixture tomorrow has been cancelled today because of health concerns of an opposition player.
There are very detailed 12 page notes from the FA on all aspects of safety before, during and following any training or games and I can assure you these are taken very seriously by parents, coaching and management staff.
As far as mingling is concerned you seem to be reflecting black and white thinking. Proximity between children is not always the same. It can be activity dependent. Children at some schools don't sit together for lunches, neither do they have cooked lunches. I know at other schools they do. At most schools, seating and desk arrangements will be different due to the layout of the school combined with the school's risk assessesment. Schools use social bubbles so any infection can be contained and traced back to as small a group of children or young people as possible. That is sensible and not half arsed and utilises the intelligence of local health authorities and staff in local areas to make risk assessments and give relevant advice. For outbreaks and pandemics that has always been the case.
I'll not go into detail about your comment regarding having seen 10 year olds. I don't know your age but, as P.E. was one of my specialist teaching subjects in my first career, I was taking school football teams as long ago as 1973ff and I am still involved in managing and coaching boys. And I can guarantee I could set up an hour training session every week taking account of social distancing which is enjoyable and competitive.

Probably because they'd have no jurisdiction over a rugby match ?
They’re hiding behind a spike in cases, my point still stands regarding if it happened at another sporting event. No other sport (to my knowledge) up has done what they’ve done. Bizarre how games are a certain level are allowed to continue..... Covid apparently doesn’t affect semi professionals and above.

It says quite clearly all games blow step 6, including small sided, are cancelled until further notice. It is disappointing but it is a genuine message which I and others received this morning from Durham FA.
Thats for organised leagues. Playing 5 a side with your mates has nowt to do with durham fa thankfully.

Except the advice is sound and should be followed. I love 5-a-side and I'm very competitive. So there is closeness and contact aplenty. Heavy breathing, sweat, contact with others before and after but especially during a game is taking chances that is not for me.

My U13s played this morning at Lockey Park in Wideopen. Club house shut but 3 pitches (2 pitches and an all weather) in use from when we arrived at 9:30am until we left around 12ish.

Training planned for Thursday.

We play in a Northumberland league.

It's basically the only thing I'm enjoying at the moment so I hope to Christ we aren't banned from playing again.

I hope so too. My Durham team cannot play play games against Sunderland teams because of the ridiculous behaviour of irresponsible people like the fans attending Dubmire Club following a charity football match recently which has resulted in dozens of new covid cases. We all have a responsibility to keep to social distancing rules so really it's up to all of us.

People commenting how can you do this and not that it’s not about what your doing it’s about controlling the numbers of possible cases keeping them down.every match cancelled lowers the risk by 22 people plus whoever’s there it’s a way of controlling the numbers

Its not about controlling everything though.
Its about being able to limit the amount. If rules bring about a 50% reduction in social interaction, then that's of fantastic benefit to limiting the spread.
