Living in the same house all of your life.

Used to have a next door neighbour who lived in the house from when it was first built in 1936 until she died in 2007 aged 95. The house was her first married home. Outlived her husband by about 50 years and her only son by about 25 (both died youngish from heart problems). It was like stepping into a 1950's museum/time warp when she passed away. Some lucky great-niece who she'd hardly met inherited the estate.

the mother and father in law lived in the same house in peterlee since it was built and it's only got new folk in since they've both passed away.
when they were building it he was walking past one day and being a building inspector had a nosey round. the site gaffer asked him if he wanted one and he got it. they could've had a much bigger house somewhere else with a lot more space but they preferred to spend their money on their children.

Can’t think of anything worse. I’ve been in my current house 12 years and haven’t touched some things since i moved in. I like familiarity.
I'm only 32 to be fair but spent about 10 years moving every year or two until I came back to the north east and bought.

I've got two young kids now and I'm realising we need to give them that security growing up. My oldest is only 3 but we just moved was and it was a big deal for him

2 with parents. 2 on my own (which I had each for about 10 years, though have no plans to move, maybe get a nice bungalow when I'm in late 60's)

We'd lived in seven houses by the time I was 13. I've lived in two as an adult since. One we rented, this one we bought.

Two different addresses with my parents before going to Uni (my dad is still in the second of those). Four different addresses while studying. Early years of working life I had six addresses in about seven years. Then I moved overseas and from 2006-2010 had five gaffs in two different countries. 2011-15 I was settled in one place abroad, returned to Durham in 2015, bought in 2016 and not moved since. So I make that 19 places I've called 'home', not including some repeat spells at my parents' place in between jobs abroad. So 19 in 47 years, but only three since 2011 (including a short spell at my Dad's while I bought a place of my own). I could be persuaded to move to one more 'forever home', but after that I'm only leaving in a box.

Im 52 and currently on house 22

I had this discussion with the missus who had been in 4 houses before she met me in 40 odd years and now onto our 3rd but no plans to move now

Up to the point I left for the services at 17, been in so many places with different family and stuff. Tried to work it out once, and got to 27. May have been more.
Then joined up, so that period doesn't count really.
Got married 23 years ago. Been in the same house, and will never move.
After the nomadic early life, I love this place. First real, proper home.

Learned this morning that a neighbour that has recently died lived in the same house from his birth until his death. He was 84.

Is this common or rare?

My mam's cousin inherited her parents home in Durham, after they died, lived there all her life (never married) and died at 73. It's uncommon but it happens.

My mam has lived in the same house for 52 years. TBF I've lived in the same house for 22 years, thought about moving because of all the snow and can't stand some of the neighbours, but can't be bothered with the clart on.
My Mam (no)
