Greed will ruin this sport.

Smacks of the wall-pushers being scared stiff of being left behind by the new 'big 4' and are waving their (stolen) hubcaps around in a hissyfit. Absolute scum.

Come off it mate – any need for that shit?

I don’t agree with what Ayre said to be honest. Would open up a dangerous can of worms. From what I’ve read this obviously only refers to international rights so wouldn’t affect the domestic deal, although might set a dangerous precedent.

To take some of the points made here (some fair, some less so):

- If he’s spoken out I’ve no doubt he’s been in conversations with other clubs to who think it’s a starter so it’s probably not just us pushing for it
- Yes, it would probably suit United more as they have the biggest fanbase. I’d say worldwide we would be next (of the English clubs). We might be living in the past, we might not be good anymore and all those other points but we still have a pretty huge support worldwide.
- In terms of ‘why is he only saying this now’ well to be fair Ayre has only been in charge in the last year or so, so when we were in the Champions League we had different people running the club.

In summary, modern football is rubbish. Money is ruining the game. It’s all stuff we already knew, just seems like we’re trying to run off with our big share. I’m not overly happy about it but don’t think it will lead anywhere at this stage.

Ayre believes that Liverpool - along with Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal - deserve to receive an increased share.

Really ?

In Spain, Barcelona and Real Madrid are able to negotiate their own deals, meaning that they are able to generate far more revenue than their smaller La Liga rivals.

I wonder why that is then ???

been waiting for this to happen

only small crumb of comfort is that the odious gartsides bolton have been named as the shite of the league, and his delusions of grandeur shattered

i think football is in danger of self destructing and if this goes ahead a permanent champions league is just around the corner
Not really. Without the top 4/5 the Prem would actually be exciting

great. put chelsea, liverpool, man utd and arsenal in a league with whoever else from europe so the world can watch them and let us get on with football. brilliant

The fact is all the top 6 would earn more money 'doing their own thing' as opposed to SKY deciding how much money they get.

I don't blame that at all, any of them for wanting more money. I also agree that Football is going to implode due to greed.

There's more honour and dignity in reserves Football/Sunday league shite.

Agree. Those clubs have too big a headstart in any given season and can't be caught unless hundreds of millions are invested.

let them fuck off and play in their own mini leage, the same ***** are on TV every week already

If they cant cope with the amount of appearnce money they get already then they really are fucked

36 posts to date and you appear to be in a minority of one.................

Of course it would be the start of a breakaway as the rich try to get richer saying fuck the rest of you.

Under the current set up the voting majority required means its a non starter anyway...

My point eggsactly.

It is only an attempt to re-negotiate the TV deal and not a threat to breakaway.

Ian Ayres is pointing to La Liga to justify this. OK then Ian. Let's mimic La Liga and reward the leagues biggest teams above the also rans.

Because if we do that, Liverpool will get absolutely fuck all, you stupid deluded cunt.

Very naive if you even start to believe that............

Its the thin end of the wedge and as stated here its funny how now they dont have CL cash they start to bleat liker stuffed pigs....

I'm surprised by your reply - what's happened to the glib 'the markets will decide' argument your Tory boys roll out to hide behind?

This is the second thread on PF today where politics is being dragged in. There's another messageboard for you lefties to prattle on, let's keep this PURE FOOTBALL.
Although, if you want to start, how wonderful that the same whinging Scousers who constantly bleat about not enough being done for them, are all "looking after number one", demanding a lion's share and don't care about anyone else cause we're a big club, today. It's interesting that in the bastion of capitalism and free enterprise, The USA, they appreciate that in sport a level playing field is desirable. There's nothing glib about believing that in the real world markets tend to decide. There's nothing contradictory in wanting football to be a game where greed and glory-hunting doesn't always win.

Couldnt care anymore...cash has messed footy up....we're forever chasing rainbows when we should be enjoying a Saturday afternoon..
What happens..happens..anyway the players will just trouser more money..

Which wall is this you blurt? Think about what you are saying you gobshite.

Regarding the thread, i am a little uncomfortable with this. But this has been on the agenda of ourselves and Man Utd for years now. Only a couple of weeks ago Ferguson was complaining that they don't receive their fair share of the TV deal.

Also people saying Liverpool only want this now we have no Champs League money and we never complained previously. Well there are different people running things now and they was not involved in the club when we was in the Champs League. I am under the impression that, part of the appeal of buying Liverpool was the potential of the club to earn mega bucks from their own TV deal.

As i said i don't necessarily agree with it but the money men are going to want to maximise this cash cow as much as they can. This all started with the Premier League and this appears to be the next level.
