Evening marra, just back from the darkside, escaped unscathed (well the wallet took a hammering) :(
Glad you made it mate. A sortie behind enemy lines is often fraught with difficulty.
Back home from hospital, T was given the all clear :)

Thank you for the best wishes

Now to get the weshing on & tea made ( better half opening b’day cards & pressies)
Champion. Cross that off the list of things to worry about mate. I’m very happy for you both.

Yup, see her specialist in a couple of weeks & hopefully another one ticked off.
Home safely then? Look forward to hearing about it ( mixed feelings tbh), but interesting.

morning marra

hope ya weekend has been good, ours has :)
just home mate. It honestly has been a fantastic experience. We visited the camps today. Different people Leave those places feeling different things. Personally during the visit I felt dumbfounded and sad. By the end I was as angry as I’ve ever been. Our guide asked us if we had any questions. I just said how? And why? she said they are the two most common questions. She thanked me for taking the journey and stressed how important it is that people visit these places. I apologised for being so insensitive but she wouldn’t hear of it. It is a very emotive place. I still have the same questions.

From what I’ve heard from you & others I suspect it would leave me exasperated, knackered, upset, annoyed ..... etc

It’s worth doing mate. It’s all of the emotions you describe. I’m home now sat in my nice house with Mrs d in the bath, one dog sprawled across my lap, the other at my feet, the cat behind my head on the back of the couch. Nice and cosy. Just as the one and a half million people were before it was ripped away from them and they ended up in Auschwitz and Birkenau. It happened. I’ve seen the railway lines, and walked the same route they did. Right or left, work or death. We live in more enlightened times now so we are told. We should never forget what happened there.

Think I said the other day, our longest friends from Wakey went, described as you have & said in their opinion EVERYONE( especially young people) should see it.
We will have to make the effort

The stories of people maintaining that “it never happened” never fail to amaze be.

There are beliefs but also ignorance and intransigence. No reasoning with that mindset.

Glad you did it mate, it is impossible to describe the place, to stand in the gas chamber, to see the ovens and empty gas cylinders is beyond comprehension but everyone should witness it.
See you in the deafy in 2 weeks.

I saw this short video a couple of years back and went through all of the emotions you described before. It really shocked me.

A lot of very influential people, organisations and institutions, governments and world powers knew it was happening at the time it was happening and chose to look the other way mate. That is their legacy.
