Litmus test now to see if Hughton is genuinely a "dignified" and good man...

I notice you chose to ignore the question. Interesting.

do i literally wince with embarrassment because i was born & bred in newcastle?

no of course not, on the contrary im fiercley proud of the fact

i frequently think for fucks sake tbf;)

but i don't see misbehaving footballers as a stain on my character

I don't think Hughton is in charge of the dressing room.

There is a clique of players at the club, including Carroll, Nolan and Barton who run things. Hughton does the coaching and the press conferences, but the real power at the club is with a clique of players, who are untouchable, and can do what they like.

Thats why the behaviour of Carroll, Barton et al is tolerated. The balance of power is with them, not Hughton.

This approach has created a team which is as unpredictable and volatile as it's players - losing to Blackpool, beating Arsenal.

It is also why things are likely to end badly for NUFC - Barton and Carroll will end up in big trouble, and NUFC will implode (again) with them.
spot on, you can tell they've not got a great deal of respect for the manager as all the players call him Chris in public - not boss or gaffer or Mr Hughton

The Newcastle manager, Hughton, like Jones did not notice the incident at the time but, after viewing footage of it, he had some sympathy with his midfielder – insisting no other player in the league would have created such a public outcry.

"I have seen it again and I am aware he has raised his hands," Hughton said. "But I am also very conscious that, because it's Joey Barton, there will be far more made of it than if it involved any other individual. If I look at the coverage it is because it's Joey as opposed to anybody else. Its been overplayed because it's Joey.

as i said...

I wasn't talking about your heritage, I was talking about those who (perhaps unwittingly) become representives/ambassadors for your club on the national stage. If I was a mag I'd be guttered Hughton came out with that, because it reflects badly on NUFC as an institution, and confirms the notion that the club is indeed inherently scum-ridden from top to bottom. Imo like.

I love this post - it's basically Lankesters fantasy based on absolutely no evidence whatsoever. In fact much has been made of the 'team spirit' at Newcastle but obviously this is all a sham and orchestrated by the big 3 who run the club.

Hilarious. Nolan constantly calls him the gaffer, but I actually fail to see what that has to do with anything. The original point about the dressing room power may actually be true, but to suggest it's 'spot on' because the players fail to call him 'Mr.Hughton' or 'Boss' in interviews is quite frankly ludicrous!

i wouldnt slag off my player over this in public tbf but id go mad backstage

edit: i wouldnt come out with the shit hughton is like

Am i right in thinking this thread is ridiculous ? Yes Joey is a loose cannon, yes no-one is condoning his actions but this red n white self rightousness is getting beyond a joke.
I refuse to believe that if yous had decent player who was from the wrong side of the tracks that you would be caling for his head.

In an ideal world everyone would be a Bobby Charlon or a Gary Linekar but its not. Its a rough game for working class lads. Lokk at Cantona, Maradona etc. Did you ever hear a Man U or Barca fan complaining, Im not saying that hes in there class, course he isnt but he's a good player who gives 100 %. I would never condone some of his actions and I was repulsed by the cctv footage of when he turned that lad over in Liverpool but all this talk of yous being holier than thou is a ittle bit embarrising. Call him a C**T as much as yous want but all this mother theresa self rightousness is a bit to far

I agree, you lot should pack that right in.

fair play to him for taking on that poison chalice of a job and so far he's doing well on the pitch.

However as I've said before he's following the NUFC managerial code of conduct: Doesn't matter if he's a **** if he's okay on the pitch.

You still can't see it can you?

He isn't a lad from the "wrong side of the tracks" he's a violent thug and has had far too many chances. You make it sound like it isn't his fault.

I can honestly say if we had a player like that I would not want him at the club and Niall Quinn certainly wouldn't either.

Choosing not to publicly criticise his players. Nowt wrong with that. He may well think that Barton is scum but he has a job to do which is managing the club. If he criticised Barton in public he may feel it would be to the detriment of the club. What he does behind closed doors is a different matter.

I don't buy all this holier than thou shit whipped up by the judgemental media, its the FA's job to punish Barton which they will do, Hughton doesn't have to sit there joining in the chorus.

I agree with the bold bit, and yet Hughton and NUFC went bitching to the FA about De Jong's tackle on Ben Arfa..

Indeed... Just look at the recent past when players have embarrased the club....
Diouf threatening Anton with a knife, And that video of Brown, lawrence, Alnwick etc None of these players survived the next transfer window....

At Nufc they would be feted as heroes.
