Litmus test now to see if Hughton is genuinely a "dignified" and good man...

But surely rule number one from the Alex Ferguson Book of Football Management is never to say anything negative about your players, even when the situation warrants it. Do you honestly expect Hughton to say that Barton is a thug who should serve a lengthy ban for this?

These things happen in the game and are dealt with - and we all move on.

correct
basic rule in any type of management job
bollock in private, praise in public

Total cliché, that, and a load of bollocks. If one of your employees pisses in your shoes are you going to go round telling everyone what a brilliant job of it they did? All you'd achieve is to lose respect, and any manager who is hemorrhaging respect is no more than a lame duck.

Off topic Fishpaste, do you ever sleep?

Oh how quick we are to call Hughton, couild it be because he manages Newcastle, no, we are in no way biased.

i think people are callling him for what i've just seen on ssn AGAIN, the comments like "making more of it because its barton" , "making more of it than it actually was"...which is pretty tawdry from a man being feted for his dignity media wide for the past months

as ive said before, its staggering that a man is asking people to NOT judge someone with a criminal record for assault and a professional record of indiscipline and aggression towards other players and team mates ON that record when he transgresses again.......

My precise sentiments last night.

But if you expected Chris Hughton to not stand up for him then you are as frankly as insane as Barton is violent.

Newcastle United Football Club appologise, and have done, when they have let the fans down, but unbelievably stop way short of simply condemning a player when he does something wrong. Proof if proof is needed that NUFC is a club devoid of any moral values and happily spit it's currupt ways over everyone.

Are you actually suprised?

We're talkin about nufc here...

Club motto - Defend the indefensible then sweep it under the carpet...

It has always been the way. The only one we ever really told it how it was was Keegan....but i guess we had plenty other reason to dislike that bugger.

He hasn't made the best of starts, like. One of his players assaults a defenceless fellow professional on a field of play with absolutely zero provokation and after admitting he has seen precisely what the rest of us have, he doesn't condemn it, he defends and dismisses it.

Very poor reaction from the player's manager. Dignified men do not protect cowards and bullies.

Just watched the interview there. 'Of course I'm conscious that he's raised his hands...'

What a cowardly cunt. Lost the little respect I had for him.

Bewildered that Hughton is saying that the media are making a big deal of this because it's Barton.

Of course they f***ing are. Newcastle signed him from f***ing prison, for fuck's sake. What do they expect? The press to view his latest violent incident in isolation?

The mags really are rotten to the core, aren't they?

how did i know this thread would be one here today:lol:

 If someone has a track record for thuggery and, supposedly 'reformed' goes on to reoffend on the field of play in full view of everyone what the fuck does he expect?

Yes.

Hughton has overseen Carroll's assault on Taylor, the 'glassing' incident, the assault on a young lass and now Barton's punch

Not only has he refused to condemn, he's almost talked in 'reverence' at his reformed characters

Barton and Carroll seem to run the club at present...

Is Taylor still on the transfer list anyway?

It's disgraceful that the SMB are making a big deal of this, just cos it's their hated rivals and their Head Criminal. It's just another form of racism.

Sincere question though, don't you feel utterly ashamed at the general conduct of the 'lads'(both on and off the field) who supposedly represent you? As a relatively young Sunderland fan I've never been in such a situation:)lol:), but I'd imagine I would be literally wincing with embarrassment if I was unfortunate enough to have been born up the road.

Simon Bird on twitter reckons it was dealt with quickly and decisively by Nufc

I suppose they were decisive in pretending the incident didn't happen, then quick to play the victim when they got caught.

For as long as Quinn is in charge, we'll never stand by such shite. There's no guarantee that we won't have a player who'll act like a twat of course, but we won't endorse it.

Hughton said that 'the same thing would have happened in every game tonight' and expected people to believe it ........ do you?

Hughton is just an Uncle Tom. grateful for the crumbs swept from Ashley's table and happy to do as he's told.

wonder how he spins Barton's admission that he's be fighting to control his temper all season?

nope

although tbf in the same game jason roberts took a swing at collocini right in front of the linesman, he was only booked for it. raising your hands is violent conduct sent off 3 match ban?

You'd wince with embarrassment - how precious
