Litmus test now to see if Hughton is genuinely a "dignified" and good man...

I don't think Hughton is in charge of the dressing room.

There is a clique of players at the club, including Carroll, Nolan and Barton who run things. Hughton does the coaching and the press conferences, but the real power at the club is with a clique of players, who are untouchable, and can do what they like.

Thats why the behaviour of Carroll, Barton et al is tolerated. The balance of power is with them, not Hughton.

This approach has created a team which is as unpredictable and volatile as it's players - losing to Blackpool, beating Arsenal.

It is also why things are likely to end badly for NUFC - Barton and Carroll will end up in big trouble, and NUFC will implode (again) with them.

tidied for you chris.....

He's just said, on Look North, that what Barton did would have happened in every game last night .......... are they all on drugs up there:roll:

another post aboot them up the road

Indeed, and not a single one about actual football. If you hear a wooshing sound in your ear, don't be too alarmed. It will just be another point flying over your head.

he's only in a job because of player power if he piss's someone off he's gone....He knows that so says fuck all

Hughton is a good guy, an honest guy and actually the best thing that's happened to Scumcastle in years. That said, don't expect him to come out and criticise Barton and nor should he be condemned for it

Mag mate at work who was there last night said to me Barton deserves at least a 10 game ban for the incident, how the hell Hughton defends this , well it beggars belief.

Wouldn't swap him for Bruce in a million years, but credit where credit's due

What makes him a good guy, an honest guy?

All I can see is that he gets a bit of sympathy for working for a pillock on a limited contract and doing a half decent job. As for him, well, he's a bit of a walkover for all at his club it seems and doesn't have the bollocks to risk (lose) his job like Keegan did.

Spineless I'd say.

Well said Flav. You are spot on. All he is is a man who is perfectly happy to compromise his principals and morals to make some money and for a job. If he was a lass you'd put her in a window in Amsterdam with a red light above it.

 Oh and fairly accurate too.

I am given to believe that prior to getting this job he was quite unpopular in football and known as a nob head, particularly at Spurs.I was surprised as he always seemed like a nice chap who worked hard.

Before he joined them of course and he does indeed seem to be showing his true colours. Not that it makes any difference, he has done a remarkable job for someone without experience and they could very easily have done a Leeds/ Sheff Wed.

Bastard.
