That's not true. A lot of our fans spent to entire game shouting 'Ross Out' for the entire 90 minutes and a lot of others spent the entire 90 minutes arguing with them.

We sold 28k. The club need to report that for tax reasons. If they did not all turn up that's not the clkubs issue. They are just reporting how many tickets were sold. I really don't know why people either can't understand this or try and use it as a stick to hit the club with.
You’d think no other club in the country did it the way people go on…

Absolutely loads of them round the town pre match (especially Greens and The Rabbit), never seen so many in fact. At the game despite their numbers were really quiet (sat underneath them in NE corner). And when the goals went in they were completely silent.
A load of day trippers there who have probably never been to a game in their life.

Some really good and fair comments on this thread- I'll add my twopenneth worth and leave you to it.

This was THE game when the fixtures were announced for lots of reasons- it was a Saturday, kids hadn't gone back to school, it was a chance to see the Imps play in a stunning stadium AND it was likely to be the first time the Imps had played a league game in front of 30K+ since March 1960 (Villa Park). Who wouldn't want to go and watch it.

I would have been amazed if you'd have experienced the same as when Coventry/Portsmouth/Luton etc came last season- these days (and putting our past aside) it doesn't feature no matter how many travel and with the amount of families who travel with us these days, I hope it stays that way.

I know we were confident (top of the 6 game league table) and had two cracking home wins against Ipswich and Posh but clearly our away form doesn't reflect our home form. As it was when you were at our place, if we sing about Netflix/Premier League etc etc and take the mickey and then make a mess of it, we look like numpties. We did make a mess of it and we did look like numpties! Pride does indeed come before a fall.

But, just like you, we love our club. We're really only a small regional club who haven't been in the 3rd tier for 20 years and to come up to the North East and play in the SoL was a great day out- thought the local fans were top notch and made us feel welcome which is all I can ask for when travelling away from home. Thought the stewards were a great crack too.

Our average travelling support will come in around 1600 this season when we get to May which, for our club, is pretty good.

Don't know what the rest of the season will bring for either of us- I just want us to stay in L1 and give Appleton the chance to build his team. You want promotion. You don't stop being a big club just because it's L1. 30k at home and a ground like the SoL is big in any league!

Good luck for the season left- who knows what will happen but I'll be back next season in Sunderland if you are still in L1.

They brought a third of their home crowd. If Sunderland took 10,000 to Old Trafford (if allocation allowed), would they all be day trippers who had never been to a game as well?

I was working in the away end, a lot who came up to place a bet didn't know any of their players. In a crowd of 3k I took 10 bets.
