What's the R80 and R63 mean? Common sense would suggest that they might be related to the radius of the fitting, the screw thread, or it could just be an arbitrary fitting name as far as I know.

Anyone know?

My folks recently bought me an uplighter with a large screw thread but it didn't come with any bulbs and it didn't say on the packaging what type to use.

Think it's to do with the energy rating or summat

Its the wattage of the lamps.

R63=11W
R80=15W.

Oh!

Cheers matey!

:cool:

edit: hang on, both types say 60W on this page on ASDA Online... is it an 11W bulb that's as bright as an old 60W bulb, or were you making it up? ;)

I think the numbers refer to the physical size of the bulb face, but both will be available two screw sizes, ES = large, SES = small.
(If I recall my apprentice days ES = Eddison Screw??)
