Liam Rosenior

How far we have fallen - judging a managerial appointment on the basis he’s not as bad as the rest of the crap that’s been linked !
That's the thing for me. I'm sure he wouldn't be the worst hire we could make but people are wanting any excuse to believe that the ownership are genuinely ambitious and determined to learn from their mistakes. Appointing rosenior wouldn't suggest that at all. It would suggest that the people we wanted didn't want the job, we couldn't convince them, and we end up with someone known for dull football who is hardly going to give the place a lift.

If its him, it's him, and we need to get behind the lad but I'll be very interested to see what kind of ambition we show in the transfer market if we aren't showing it (or able to seal it) in the head coach pursuit. If they make an uninspiring appointment and then have a poor window and we have a mediocre season I doubt many would want the same people picking the next head coach

Ott negative imo. He’s done more in his very short career than the others we have been linked with. I think it’s a case of familiarity breeding contempt.

This is the issue, he is a solid enough choice who will get us top 12 atleast (we should be aiming higher) what really concerns me is how many managers don’t want to be anywhere near Speakman and this regime, that surely can’t be healthy for a club our size

Big club doesn’t really come in to it really though. Nobody really wants to walk into a cluster fuck (bar some of the usuals who live off severance pays).

We’ve a side that was in relegation form for the most part of last season, a very real possibility of the best player(s) being sold, reduced autonomy, probably pretty low wages, staffing limitations and a bit of a history of either being erratic with managers or having multiple managers leave or complain about the set up.

It’s not ideal when trying to sell yourself so we just end up with last choice and claim it’s our first.

The facts can’t be argued with. 20th to 7th is quite an improvement.

Yes a very good improvement. He’ll be working with a similar challenge here if he comes. I’ll get behind him and hope he does well. It’s not like a Beale situation where everyone knew he’d fail, but it feels underwhelming and like we’re settling for our 7th option or something.

The plan from KLD is for promotion at the end of the 25/26 season, so let’s hope he’s the man to achieve it.

Pure speculation for a lot of that and overly negative.

How can you plan for that ?

Absolutely spot on. The club have worn so many fans down with this whole debacle that many are now at the point of trying to convince themselves this is a good appointment.

I don't why there still is now, what will it take ? We're clearly not going for promotion.

Tbf he had a side that was well backed in the transfer market and ultimately fell short. Good improvement from when he came in like, but I'd argue hull last season were much more equipped for play offs than we are now, so it's hard to imagine him getting us up there unless he's similarly backed, which I can't see happening. I'd like to at least have the hope of a head coach who might get us massively over performing.

The big thing for me is the dull football he plays though, mentioned before that I think the place is similar to when Keane came in and just needed a lift. People were bored rigid by the end of last season, and going to games was a chore for many. Can't see that apathy lifting if its someone who apparently got sacked for refusing to play a more attacking style.

I probably am being negative, but it would be a boring appointment and I expect most were hoping for more, for a sign of ambition. Let's be honest, very few calling for this lad a few weeks ago

By signing about 15 players and doubling the wage bill to 131% of turnover. I’d expect an improvement with that.

Bit like I’d expect the mags to be better now they’ve spent nearly half a billion.
Working under the constraints set for him. He also had to gel those players together under a regime that doesn’t look from the outside to be any better than ours. I’m not thrilled if it happens but there is something to work with. It will all depend on the quality of our recruitment.

Can’t disagree with anyone of this mate

If it is him, then why didn't they get him as soon as or pretty quickly after Hull binned him...could have played the narrative that he was the right man to take us forward.
6 weeks later and he screams 'the best we could get/would accept the model'.
Will be gone within 18 months, probably as little as 6 months

Except at Hull

As always Safc fans warm to someone who will be sacked within 12 months

Bottom half of the table with Rosenior in charge and deep down most of us know it

Not moi. I want someone who is familiar with the league. Who knows what it takes to be a top team in the league. What it takes for a team to win enough games.
