Liam Rosenior

I just listened to 2nd Tier podcast where they were discussing their top 5 realistic available managers for championship clubs looking for managers.

One had Rosenior as his 1st choice and one had him as his 2nd choice (only behind Steve Cooper who arguably is not realistic for most championship clubs).

He is very well respected at this level, the 2nd Tier podcast lads do know the championship very well.

The red flag for me isn’t about Rosenior it’s about our process and specifically why we seem to reach the final stages of talks with candidates and then fail to appoint people.

Surely staffing levels, salary and our recruitment policy are outlined early on in talks. There must be something that’s causing decent managers to get cold feet at the last minute.

Been thinking about how he doesn’t play amazing football. Would we really care if it got us promoted? It’s not like we’d turn to man city and start pressing them and playing attacking
if he plays defensive football and we aren’t comfortably top two, he’s going to be a handful of results away from losing the supporters.

Over the years managers who send out a team who plays on the front foot and looks to win games get a lot more leeway than those who are more pragmatic.

Mowbray didn’t exactly set pulses racing when he was announced, but the football was great that first season and even tho we lost in the play offs everyone was on board.

They want to manage safc, but get into talks and realise the extent to which they'll be managing with one hand tied behind their back, and then decline

Just don’t give him a club mobile phone.
“bet you’d love a bounce on her falsies”

Supposedly cleaned up his act mate.

Heard a really heart warming story about his time at Ross County when two fans were stranded with a broken down car in a small village called Mountgerald just outside Dingwall. He offered to pay for a taxi to the stadium up to the value of £4 per head and sent them a link to the local bus timetable. Now that’s the sort of chap you want in charge!

As a positive slant on Rosenior, I truly believe that if he had done what he’s done in a foreign league, folk would be welcoming him.

Hull were 21st when he took over; they finished 7th. They also didn’t have a striker.

Last season was his first full season as a boss. He’s credited with the good work Rooney had done at Derby and did a good job with them. His style may not be perfect but he’s young enough to adapt that.

Does he get the heart racing? No. Is he the safest appointment out there atm? Yes. I think he could be excellent.
I don’t think he would have been on a list before purely because he was seemingly safe in a job had just been nominated for manager of the year.
Stinks of Beale that.
