Liam Bridcutt

If I told the papers - fair point. Me posting those photographs was an answer to countless: 'pics or it didn't happen' comments from my fellow SMBers.

I could've made a fortune from those pictures - trust me.

Also, this is an admiration thread for our new signing, you short sighted, narrow minded person.

Reminiscent of the way Cloughie was with John McGovern. He was seen as a limited player by the footballing world but Cloughie took him wherever he went and was first name on the teamsheet as he knew what Clough wanted and delivered it consistently Against the better teams we've still got to play away a midfield three of Bridcutt, Catts and Ki sounds very good to me, shame we can't have it at Wembley

He's a very very interesting signing. Poyet loves him and Poyet has given me many reasons to trust his judgement. But, this is the premier league. It's a hard one and no-one else seems to have been interested in him. Of course, I hope he'll be great for us. I'm glad Catts hasnt gone, just in case.

That's what I think... Even though I didn't realise I thought it till you said it

This is all speculation as a fan looking in.

I believe there was more than one club interested but Liam made his mind up and wanted to play for gus poyet. Tbh it doesn't surprise me considering the praise he gave on some of the papers in the past.

The reason it was so cheap is down to the player not being interested. He has hardly featured since Christmas. He would be a disruption to morale in the dressing room. Consider that with the fact that it was still a lot of money for a club like brighton.

There you have it!

I don't think this was it. I think the fix was in before Christmas from Liam Bridcutt's last home match on 21 December 2013. Indicated by his body language.

Brighton needed to cut costs to comply with the Financial Fair Play Rules. Brighton made two signings but they were unable to find a straight replacement for Bridcutt as they also lost midfielder Andrew Crofts for the season and he needed to be replaced.

The deciding factor was Liam Bridcutt's formal transfer request. He had outlived the Championship and did not find it a challenge. No other clubs made offers so the transfer fee at £2.5 million was lower than almost everyone expected. £3.5 million was reasonably expected in the January window. Sunderland got a bargain.

The whole affair disrupted the Albion team and cost us possibly 8 pts.

Gus Poyet claims he has got the better of Albion in the Liam Bridcutt saga.
The Seagulls midfielder finally completed his long-awaited move to Sunderland today.
The fee is being reported in the North-East as £2.5 million - and Poyet believes that is well below what Bridcutt is worth.
The former Albion boss told The Sunderland Echo: "When you consider the price for him and how much we wanted him, he's British, he's young and I think it was a bargain for us."
Bridcutt, 24, is expected to make his Premier League debut in tomorrow's Tyne-Wear derby against Newcastle, with Lee Cattermole injured

I'd be most surprised if he was up for any other but a 10, maybe 15 minute cameo at the end.
A step up in league
A high energy, emotion filled game against our 'hated' rivals
He hasn't played for a few weeks

listen to talkshite most the day when in the waggon and every person thats spoke about this lad has said how good he is, another thing i remember hearing is he is an ex chelsea kid that claude makelele took under his wing and taught him so has good pedigree
as do i in my taxi, the other day there was some bloke on going over the transfers , listed about 5 then asked the guest who was on what was the best deal, the bloke said bridcutt without a doubt, ( couldn't really hear who was on like, had some old bag banging on about crap at the time) hope it works out for him & us, but tbh nobody has said a bad word against him

I can see him and Catts playing together, I don't think it has to be one or other, it might give Gardner a new lease of life playing with these two. I am glad we kept Cattermole with all these games coming up.

No wonder you lost in the desert!!
Gardner FFS!!
Shouldn't be anywhere but the Metro.

I hope that he is spectacular today.

The lad that posted the pictures and Di-Canio are inadvertently responsible for Bardsley giving his f***ing head a shake and playing some of his best stuff for Sunderland

Still an element of risk stepping up a level. A commanding midfield display in the championship is one thing. Whether he can do it with the likes of Yaya & Kompany trying to get inside his shorts is quite another!

I've a feeling he'll be a very good signing I just hope our fans don't expect too much too soon, next season with hopefully better players around him should see him flourish.

slotting in nicely, well done Liam lad - keep up the excellent work

Decent game so far. Broke up a few mags attacks. His passing and first touch has been a little off but always recovers well.
