Central Defender
I for one am very excited about this signing. Watched him a few times and looks like he has everything we've been missing in that role in front of the back four. A player with the composure and passing ability of Ki with the stamina and tenacity of Cattermole (without the worry that uncontrolled aggression will lead to a mistake/bad challenge).

He got 6 assists last year for Brighton playing in that holding role also - Cattermole has less than half of that in his entire time with us (albeit, Cattermole has played ay a higher level).

I read something online somewhere today that asked Sunderland fans how they rate our capture of Bridcutt - how much of a 'big signing' was this? When Gus was asked the same thing, he responded as such:

'a spectacular signing'.

I've never heard him speak so highly of a player. I think we very well might have a new fan's favourite on our hands.

How are we all feeling about this one?

He deserves a thread on the front page -

He's a very very interesting signing. Poyet loves him and Poyet has given me many reasons to trust his judgement. But, this is the premier league. It's a hard one and no-one else seems to have been interested in him. Of course, I hope he'll be great for us. I'm glad Catts hasnt gone, just in case.

As far as we know...

anyone got or read that quote where poyet says he would sign bridcutt even if he was manager of barca? said he was the best player in the world in his position?!

Pretty much exactly what SproutMackem has said here.

'Yes I am worried by Liam's performance. Other clubs can ask about him because it's part of the game,' the Seagulls manager said.

'If I was coach of Real (Madrid) I would take him because he deserves to go to the highest level.

'As a holding midfielder, there is no better player in the division. So he is quite expensive.

'The best thing about Liam is that he understands me to an incredible level. The way he understands what I want from him is spectacular.'

listen to talkshite most the day when in the waggon and every person thats spoke about this lad has said how good he is, another thing i remember hearing is he is an ex chelsea kid that claude makelele took under his wing and taught him so has good pedigree

There's that word again.

I was listening to talkshite yesterday & Danny Murphy said Bridcutt would be a very very good signing for us, he said he's seen him quite a few times and he's a quality player, hope he's right.
