That particular lie was, in itself, very confusing for the children as almost all of them are aware by this age that some people aren't straight.

My daughter growing up probably had as much exposure to gay couples than straight ones as 2 very good friends were gay ( not together) so going to the beach with one of the couple was just normal for her. She’s 19 now and has gay friends ( lads and lasses) and she honestly just sees them as friends who happen to be gay which I consider a lovely view of the world and a show successful and wonderful parents ;)
