LGBT+ awareness month

We need a normal white person awareness week... But that won't be politically correct .. So we will continue to pay lip service to these fringe groups ..
Its that week every week you spenk.

You don't have to raise awareness because you can go about your daily life, being intolerant of others I guess, without being harassed, beaten up, overlooked for jobs etc. because that how it is for 90% of the population up here. School of hard knocks / University of Life by any chance?

Don’t know if this is a good comment or a crap one but how can we have a LGBTQ+ Awareness Month unless it explicitly mentions what the + includes.

As a straight bloke I do wonder if any LGB members take issue/are embarrassed by some of the extremists in the trans arena calling anyone and everyone transphobic just for asking questions or being confused by what’s what.
There's certainly some debate / activism in "the community" that the T doesn't sit that naturally alongside the LGB. There's particularly strong feeling amongst lesbians who are labelled as transphobic or TERFS (trans exclusionary radical feminists) for not wanting to sleep with trans women, be it pre or post op. It's staggering to believe but there are activists out there who will tell you that biologic sex and genitals don't matter.

There's also concern that there is a rush to label young people who don't fit gender stereotypes as having gender dysphoria or being trans, again particularly in young lesbians who now seem over represented in the number of young people being presented for hormone blockers and possible surgery.

Gender critics claim that the rush to label young people as trans often comes from a place of homophobia (parents would rather have a straight trans kid than a gay or lesbian) and we should be more embracing of the fact that some boys are just a bit feminine and some girls are butch.

It's an interesting area of debate which is of course utterly ruined when viewed on twitter 🙄

Another absolutely batshit viewpoint in the trans world. Thankfully it’s in the minority I think. Social media gives it a bigger platform than it deserves.

There is a similar sub-culture among gay men toward bi-sexual men. In fact the most negativity I have come across, apart from the occasional beatings and broken bones from others, have come from gay men. And I have never understood that.
