Level you played at/ Level you should have played at.

Did a really good pirouette turn ala Zidane once. The lad I did it against is probably still searching where I went. If they were judges on the sidelines it would have scored 6's across the board.
Other than that I was quite decent but no where near good enough to progress past Sunday football

Leeds academy about 14 years ago. Tore my cartilage at 16, couldn't be bothered with the physio so when it was 'healed' I tore it straight again. Fucked it off after that but my knee is totally fucked. Could have had a knee replacement at 25 due to 'severe degeneration', fissuring, all sorts of shit. 30 now and still playing but for West Yorkshire Police team waiting for it to blow.

I'd never have made it to any decent level mind - just never dedicated to it at a younger age and always a confidence player which I never had. Always thought the 21 other players on the pitch were better so hampered me massively. Now I regret not working harder at it when I was younger. 16 year old me was a right c.unt.
do you work for West Yorkshire police also.
(sorry, had to ask)

Watched when in Hetton Youth league but didnt get picked up , close but no cigar. Few clubs were watching a left winger for Coles cranes but I marked him out of game but injured for few games a bit later .Straight to Wearside and spell in NL at 17/18 but missed games at RP so just played CIU on Sundays mainly. Had a spell with all my mates when Silksworth formed in Wearside league years ago for a few year but again missed matches so just played for the Barnes on Sundays.

So injury, drink and watching lads

Played for the school team, should never have been near a pitch lol.

I was the kid who turned up for every team no matter what, stuck my name down and hoped for the best, got to play on every school team there was, due to people not turning up, the only 2 times i earnt it was cross country running and badminton.

Also played chess at county level due to no one else being able to play back then, was just asked anyone able to play chess, we came 3rd out of 8 teams, only 3 turned up on the day lol, seems a big difference between being able to play and being good at it :)

My son turned out to be good at most sports, wish he had stuck at it.

Did some goalkeeper coaching for my son and ended up being asked to take all the keepers, seems I was a much better coach than a player.

Schoolboy level
Then Sunderland boys
2 caps for England u17’s (vs Germany and Scotland)
Signed for FC Heereneveen
Broke my leg, fixed that then broke an ankle.
Trialed with Berwick, Aberdeen and qos. Signed for qos but never got near the first team in truth.
Signed for a team in a Washington pub league and about a year later broke the other ankle.

Quit playing seriously. Played with my mates and still play 5aside today. I’m still convinced I could have played in our 4th tier, but I’ll never know.

Still moments of magic on 5aside. Carried us to the league title last year in my 40’s.

Huzzah

Won the Leicestershire schools Cup at 16 and got to the last 16 of the national Cup (Tomato Ketchup Cup) and won all the local Sunday league trophies.
Never played on Saturday as didn't want to give up my LCFC season ticket.

Got into Leicester schoolboys in year 6 but then the manager decided to quit and they didn't get a replacement for that season so it never went ahead.

Had trials again aged 15 but never got in. I'm not still bitter that they played me right back when I was a centre back or Centre forward. 😆

My Sunday team used to play against all of the local academy teams and we beat them all.

My favourite moments were scoring away to Notts County & Rushden and Diamonds.

I was a bit weedy until I was about 14 and therefore pretty shite. Suddenly became good at sport and teenage testosterone made me a radgey terrier on the pitch. Never played any higher than Sunday league or uni level though. Played Rugby for school and captained a few lads that went on to play professionally and get international caps but wasn’t really interested enough beyond 16/17 to pursue it. Beer, girls and football more of a focus at the time, probably in that order.

Tomato Ketchup Cup) 😂 paolo Di canio wouldnt have entered 😉

Playing my first match tomorrow for saltcoats amateurs , would have fancied my chances playing juniors or higher but spent all my youth travelling to SAFC home and away matches and liked the drink too much.

Decent standard schoolboy football, peaked aged 10, winning every competition in sight. Played on to Undr 18s, same league as Redheugh boys but not as good. Off to university where I didn't like the footie crowd z( I wasn't mature enough to socialise with southerners).
Always played 5 aside, picked up 11 a side again in mid 20s playing in. South Devon league. Foolishly helped out friend and played half a season of Sunday footie in mid 30s before getting a serious back injury one morning on a waterlogged pitch.

Won a couple of awards as a kid, lots of skill and pace but stopped growing at 5'3" and a a bit so never a chance in hell of progressing as I wasn't Maradona. Played Leicestershire Sunday league and regularly got kicked to fuck (when they could catch me) but enjoyed the battle.
