Let's discuss the Monarchy

Mate, how can you say she has been a wonderful ambassador, and we have needed her in recent years, and in the same paragraph say that there is no place for the Monarchy?
That just doesn't make sense mate.
A case of separating the person from the role they're carrying out. Having an unelected head of state is a ridiculous concept in this day and age IMO but in the same breath I doubt we'll ever have a royal/political leader so widely respected around the world again in my lifetime.

Fair enough. Agree to disagree, but understand your thinking.

No, you'll be paying for an elected head of state, with no power, and bringing no tourist dollars or pounds from around the world.
Great idea that.
Exactly.

With the added cost of the vote/ referendum to decide which ex pop star or politician will take over every four years.

Voted in by the same public who voted brexit and for the name "boaty mcboatface"
I think it doesn't really matter who or what the figurehead is, there will always be rich buggers at the top.
And if they aren't rich when they are elected head of state thy will be when they leave the role

Charles will go through the bigger Royal family and get rid of the lesser entitled lot , Harry and Andrew have already been dealt with indirectly and there will be no way back for them.

What sort of things did she do to earn all that respect?

Really mate? Are you being serious?
There is not enough bandwidth to list everything that she did for this country.
You are coming across as a bit ridiculous now marra.
Even the most ardent anti royalist wouldn't pose that question marra.
Make a start then?

Giving up a normal life to put herself in the shop window, which is how her whole life has been. That certainly deserves anybody's respect.
Add to that a figure of hatred from a vocal minority and I'd rather drink a bucket of vomit than have lived her life.

Probably, but they'd have to work harder for it. Or grease more palms ;)

I don't think the British Monarchy is that bad like at least we aren't forced to be obedient to them like some countries. If people love them it's cool and people have the right to hate them as well but at least we can all just get on with our lives either way. I'm not arsed either way but did like Lizzie.

She never had a normal life to give up, she knew no different.

This

If someone doesn’t like the monarch they can just ignore it

It’s not like they affect our lives that much

I suppose it gives some a focal point for all that they love about this country and others a focal point for all that they hate about their own lives, I suppose they need someone to blame

It's a valid question

Harry is his son, so the door will always be open for him, as for his brother not so much.
